Suppose it is a good price for a pirate copy of a Ross Tech product...  

 

You can never update it... There have been instances of "pirate" copies frying modules... AND you will not get the support of Ross Tech if anything goes wrong ....  

I also believe it is against forum rules to discuss counterfeit Ross-Tech equipment.

 

Just a cautionary word as people can get quite upset about it.

 

The genuine cable retails for around £225 from authorised suppliers.

No, non legit price. The real thing is worth the money.

Don't do it! Even more so so as that software pre-dates your car by 4 years!

 

It will be missing so many features and bug fixes it could do anything to your car... Either buy the real cable before you potentially damage your car or find a local member who has a genuine one.

im just looking at DIY options, was spoilt with Fomidable F super £15 for my Mondeo!

If it’s for coding changes then I may be able to do it on your return from holiday (Im near Folkestone)

I'd forget about that now regardless of money. Like most things, if it looks too good to be true etc....... Also, to reiterate what Silver1011 mentioned, it's not something we should even be discussing any further. Lots of helpful members on here willing to assist with legit VCDS

I wouldn't bother with a copy id save up & buy a genuine one they some times come up for sale on ebay or forums at a cheap price. My genuine one was bought 2nd hand off another forum..i registered it with rosstech & mine updates on a regular basis also it has paid for itself many times over.

On a scale of 0-10 for "proper" kit whats suitable?

If all you need to do is read fault codes and make some basic changes then Carista is unbeatable value...
