DSG service on a V6?

Featured Replies

My superb V6 is coming up to an annual service next month. It is a 10 plate with 38k on the clock. I'm pretty sure it's never had a DSG service, so was thinking about having it done, is this to early for a DSG service?

I only do about 6k a year. I'm imagining the cost of having it done at a local Skoda dealer (lightcliff Warrington) will be more expensive than an independent or specialst but I will phone and ask.

Is it recommended to do the service now or wait 12 months?

Does anyone have any recommendations for garages/specialist in the North West area?

What should I expect the cost to be including the other usual service items.

Thanks.

I have no experience with the DSG box, but have read the stories of them playing up due to lack of maintenance. It's all but at the 40000 mile recommended time schedule anyway, plus the oil is 5 years old. For me it would be a no brainer, prevention is certainly a lot cheaper than cure in this instance, plus your car is out of warranty so any cost of repair is coming out of your pocket.

I agree, it may cost a bit but it will be cheaper than a problem :) After all it is only 2000 miles away and with such low mileage it may be worth it anyway... In fact  I only do about 7500 miles a year in mine so I may be tempted to have it done every couple of years... same as an engine, an oil and filter change never does any harm ;)

Mine is 12 months old and just had an annual service and changed to fixed service...

I would get it serviced for peace of mind. Mine is a 2010 car and had the service at 68k kms (42k miles). Filter and oil. I believe 40k miles is the recommended service interval.

On the 6sp DSG there seem to be few problems however an oil change will certainly ensure that it continues to give fault free service.

Yes 40 k is the service interval , you might as well have the benefit rather than selling it a year after its serviced . I had mine done at 30 k for peace of mind dealer 176 vw but knocked them down to 144

Yup, do it at the next service, we've had all two  of our cars done, both before 40k miles but at he 4 year mark.

Worth getting the software checked too, & re-set to the latest factory settings.

As for cost, check-out prices at your local VW dealers, as well as Skoda, you should find that it's now a special menu-price for cars that are more than 3 years old.

Also worth searching for any local independent  Audi / VW / Skoda specialists, they are often very knowledgeable & good value.

I have a 3.6 superb estate and had mine done at 35,000 miles at Awesome GTI in Irlam.

Brilliant service and got them to service the haldex system as well as that is also due every 40,000 miles or 4 years.
