tyre size for 19s on a mk2 fl vrs

Recommended Posts

Hi all possibly looking at a set of 8.5x19 for my fl mk2 vrs, now i like how mine rides on its 18s with 225 40 18 but most i see who run 19s be on skodas or vws run 225/35/19 but not many 225/40/19... any reason why as i ideally like not to go below 40 profile, cheers all

Iv ran 225/35, 215/35 and 235/35 on my mk6 golf + my mk2 octavia vrs.

215/35 are too small unless your really low.

235/35 caught the arches unless the wheels are a high offset et45/ et50 ish or the car is high (lowered on springs/ not mega low on coilovers)

225/35 are just right for coilover height.

If you are wanting more meat then 235/35 is the way to go not 225/40

Cheers guys it was based purely on comfort as i used to run 19s with 215 35 19 on my mk4 golf and it was horrible, thought with a big old barge of a vrs 40s might give it that little bit more esp being our family car
