Very nice

Nice!

That thing will go like hot **** off a shiny shovel! Especially with the 4x4 and DSG. You're going to win all the traffic light grand prix races! lol

What does the LED package entail?

Phil

If the parcel shelf was a paid extra, I believe it auto retracts when the boot opens, instead of being manually operated.

Sure I read somewhere that it auto covers too once the boot is closed, but don't quote me on that...

I'll have to do a bit if research on that. I've included it in the costing for the moment... Yeah Phil the 0-60 is about the same as my old TVR !

I think the LED's include the mood lighting inside the cockpit. Not sure but it may also include led rear lights... Again a need to study more...

Cool.

Yeah 5.8 seconds to 60 and limited to 155mph!

Although I bet in the real world it will feel even quicker than that especially on a slippy surface you could probably beat some much quicker cars off the line.

We have some friends in York if this comes off ill bring it round so you can have a look :-)

I'm confused by the Retractable parcel shelf though.... Is that in addition to the  one I had as standard in my Scout and Octavia Elegance before it or something different ?

The automatic parcel shelf functions the same as the Superb II. This is from the Superb III manual...

The non-automatic flavour requires you to push down A for semi-retraction and again for full retraction.

I have the automatic retraction on my current car and recently disabled it, wondering had it been worth paying the extra for it?

It didn't take long, just a couple of shopping trips, to realise just how convenient the auto-retraction actually was and I quickly re-enabled it.

As well as the mood lighting it replaces bulbs with LEDs in various places (door, footwells, reading lights). Unfortunately, from what I can ascertain, the rear light LEDs appear to be L&K only.

Thinking about one of these instead of a Octavia vRS, slightly worried about how much bigger they are than the mk2 octavia though, which is already a fairly large car. Also considering the Leon Cupra ST and the Golf R estate.

I'm in the same frame of mind, we don't really like the new Octy, & the Leon / Golf estates would be too small for us.

As for size, my current Superb is quite easy to live with, it fits into most parking bays & my garage too, the extra width on the new car might be a problem though.

Folding mirrors solve most of the width issues.

Kudos to the O.P. though, ordering a new car without a test drive is brave.................

:-) Fingers crossed.... I have never test driven any car before purchase.  May try to get out in at least a 6 speed DSG before I take the plunge but I'm not overly concerned.

I think the depreciation on this engine will be pretty scary though.... Not so bad if keeping .....

There are actually quite a few of us that have never test driven before buying  - well with Skodas anyway!

:-) Before Skodas my cars were Westfields, Cobras and TVR's ..... The owners were a bit skittish about test drives !

I've bought 7 cars from new since 1984, of which I had a test drive in four of them, the last of these was my current Superb II.

Of the other three, I found annoying issues that weren't obvious or present in the test drive cars and I got rid of them well before they ever reached needing MOT (6 months was my shortest).

The three I didn't test drive first I happily kept for 5, 7 and 8 years.

The exception is my Superb II which is reaching its 4th birthday and is as good a car as the day I bought it, if not better now the engine seems even more lively and responsive, and it's only visits to the workshops have been for service and MOT.

Were it not for my love-at-first-sight of the new Superb 280 hatch I definately wouldn't be changing it.

I have not had a single doubt about ordering my Superb III unseen (in the flesh), let alone not test driven.

I may live to regret that statement, but somehow I doubt it.

I've bought 15 new cars since '83 & had test drives whenever I'd not driven one of them before. When it was just the same again I didn't always bother, but I've also test-driven plenty of cars I never

want to drive again!

As for the Superb 3, I need to see & drive before I buy, £36k could buy some quite nice cars & I can't afford to waste my O.A.P. pennies.

Can't wait to see photos of this car in that Corrida red. As much as I love white cars (always have...not just a fad) this is the only other color I'd consider on a 280 estate.

Great choice sir

I took some pics yesterday of a white estate at Rainworth ... I'll see if I can upload the pics ..

Will be looking at one of these when my V6 needs replacing. If anyone has driven both I would love to know how you think they compare.
