Air distribution

Featured Replies

Is it just me or is the owners manual double Dutch!!

I can't figure out or even understand the automatic air distribution/recirculating mode....

How do you guys have your settings does it automatically take fresh air and recirculated air can you just leave it on the auto setting all the time....please please explain in lay and terms how to use this....

You can have auto mode on without AC. You can have recirculation mode on whether you are using air-con or not. It is also misunderstood that air-con is purely for 'cold air'. It conditions the air for cool or hot.

On a hot day, place air-con on, fan to max, direction of air to de-mist (screen) and interior circulation on. Set temperature to the blue zone (cool) or a specific temp. I usually use 18C in summer...but each to their own. Open windows an inch or two to let hot air out. After 10 mins, close windows, turn recirculation off and position air flow as you wish. Job done.

On a cold day, place air-con on, fan to max, direction of air to de-mist (screen) and interior circulation on. Set temperature to the red zone (warm). Ensure windows are closed. After 10 mins turn recirculation off and position air flow as you wish. Job done.

Well thats how I run it....

Hope it helps.

Auto... auto recirculation. 22 Celsius. Perfect all year!

If you leave it on auto it will periodically switch the air flow between the different vents to help change out all the air in the car. I tend not to use the recirculation mode unless I see smoke or something else that looks smelly on the road ahead. There is a second recirculation setting where the other LED in that button comes on which is supposed to detect pollution and switch to recirculation mode automatically. I have no idea whether it works, but it's an interesting option.

There are also 2 different performance settings on the aircon. If you push the Auto button a second time a different LED lights up in the button to indicate it's on a higher power mode. This is probably more relevant to people living in much hotter climates than Ireland where I am though, as I've only used it to see if it worked - presumably it's harder on fuel and the standard mode works very well for me left at 19 degrees or occasionally 18 when it's very sunny.
