gtb2260vk hybrid

Featured Replies

Thinking of upgrading compressor wheel while turbo out of car to a 65mm 6+6 any one running this setup or similar what's boost response like etc

Not sure which one I recently fitted but it was the GTB hybrid version, it was awful, no amount of tuning and or adjusting made it driveable, so much boost lag.

i got a gtb2260 hybrid and thats laggy a 65 would have even more lag personally the 2260 is the biggest i'd go for a daily car

Xman has 62mm 6+1 billet comp wheels

got a gtb2262 6+6 on order

Unless you up the boost then it won't make much difference to peak power.

Mine's running a 2566vk but then you don't buy a big turbo and expect the same performance as a vnt17 :D

You get a big turbo, you need to up the higher rev range so yes whilst my turbo may not come on to full boost until 2700rpm ish (still being worked on gradually :D) it will rev out to 5500 eventually, so I gain more upper rev range power.  Effectively shifting the powerband.  The car gets driven to that, so it's still awesome.  You simply don't stamp on the throttle at 1500rpm in 3rd and expect to accelerate super fast.  That needs 2nd gear and then some driver effort put in :D

That's not much higher than a standard 2260 to be honest

didnt want to go too big really as its a daily car and going too big on the compressor side would probaly just outflow the turbine causing boost creep and surge problems will probaly end up with porting and big valves and a cam any 1 had any exprience with bns autos/vehicle recyling solutions seam to do a cracking price on a ported head with bigger valves fitted

Ported head and a 2265 you should likely see full boost by 2600 if not before if the 2566 is on full boost by 2700,that's really good to be honest.

How much do they charge for the porting and valves?

got quoted 350 for valves and another 300 for fitting and porting so 650 all in

You can't get boost creep, you don't have a wastegate silly, it's a VNT diesel.

you might see full boost but the engine isn't consuming that amount of air until way past 3000rpm

2260 is ideal for road use on stock engine, a ported head will help the engine breath better at higher rpm and reduce EGT, EMP but won't see much if any difference in spool a 1.9 8v can only consume what is can consume, trying to make a bigger turbo less laggier by stuff fuel and keeping the vanes shut at lower rpms will just cause damage, and yes you will get compressor surge or flutter as its most commonly called

my 1.9 PD in my polo died with a holed/cracked pistons by making the boost come in too early it had horrid flutter/surge and failed :(
