Based on the number of threads there are floating around about misty windscreens, leaking doors, wet carpets, etc. It would be good to see how many of us suffer the problem.

So if you have or have had a similar problem post you experiences here.

Mine misted up alot overnight... but now leave the vents set to Screen/Feet and it stays clear... something to do with the car breathing easier... certainly works

I get the rugby balls along the windscreen just above the dash, but they clear after a few seconds of air connage.

No leaks yet, plenty of condensation on cold mornings but it clears pretty quickly with the heater/aircon

mine doesn't mist, I'd just advise, aircon on and a bit of heat... keeps everything clear :)

Never any condensation except from breath when getting into a cold car. That's the only time I use aircon (except when it's hot!). I only use recirculate when stuck in heavy traffic.

I left mine at a long term car park over the weekend at Heathrow and when I got back last night there was water running down the inside. Heater wasnt doing anything and so I had to use a cloth to wipe it, but that wasn't ideal as now ill have to clean my windscreen again :(

Right pain in the **** it is.

LOL, was gonna say it didn't this morning... but I'm driving other car today.

Mine tends to mist up. I can't say if it is typical. Car doesn't appear to be wet inside or leak that I can see.

The inside of my screen is very greasy and needs a thorough clean & polish up. Took about a minute of max fan speed on the screen to clear it to the point of me being able to safely start my trip to work. My recent cough I think has resulted in my screen being so mucky (sometimes you just forget to put your hand over your mouth when you're driving on your own. :o)

Never leaked thankfully. :)

Mine mists up like a b****r, tried cleaning the screen and windows yesterday, but still did it this morning. Was frozen solid though :)

Couldnt find any damp inside the car but will try the aircon and leaving it on foot/screen see if that helps.

mine's fine :)

Mine woud get a LOT of condensation on the inside when it gets cold, to the point of it freezing into sheet ice in the winter. Took it to the dealer to get to the bottom of it as other cars round here don't do it, Dad's Octy doesn't, GF's Fabia doesn't, brothers Fabia doesn't.

Dealer has started replacing door seals. 3 have been done, 1 to go and the problem is nearly completely sorted :)

I reckon everyone with the problem should ring their dealer. If they start to get an influx of people ringing in with this issuem they will take more notice. I intend to ring my dealer and see what can be done. My 23 year old cavalier never did it so my brand new vrs shouldnt.

my car misted up in the morning usually after i got out the car on a Wet day the day before or I left the window slightly open

i'm sure you can get some bag/powder/ioniser dunno what it's called that will dry the air for you if your that worried about condensation

it's just natural i think

mine has only started leaking in the last week, water is sitting on the rear rubber seals at the rear doors on both sides, only sitting on the seals and its not got onto my carpets yet as they are bone dry. Had no problems before and the car is 2 years old, mine mists up occassionaly but not to bad and the air con clears its. Its due its service in 2 weeks so i will get it looked at then

Cant answer your poll because it mists up a lot but doesnt leak

Yup my windscreen mist up a lot, and it isnt an aircon thing as I havent had it on for a couple of weeks? And its also a pain to clear it quickly even with aircon. But touch wood no leaks in the rear yet

Did but i re-sealed the door thingy and its fine now

more rear screen and rear doors that mist did mist on fronta few times but seems fine at moment just the rears was booked in tomorow for warranty work but garage has closed down so i have to rebook else where

but this should not be happening on a 2yr old car and also shouldnt have to adjust vents to compensate for this problem :thumbdwn:

due to shift work depends what time of day i start if front screen steamed up or not does seem to be slight leak from rear doors and possible rear screen?

so let u no once repaired

I find that I need to use the air con when its raining to keep the windows clear. The windows seem to mist up quite easily, but using the ventilation properly, its quite effective at clearing it.

I've certainly not had any problems with damp or condensation.

Mines been sitting outside and frozen solid, all the ice is on the outside, by the way which door seals fail so I can keep an eye out for the problem

Just had this problem on my Fabia vRS fixed.

Fortunately it did not get to the stage that I suffered wet carpets, however the windscreen misted up all the time and became soaking wet if stood for a period of time. I discovered that that the doors leaked when I opened them after a rain storm, the door cards, door sills and rubber seals were soaked.

I initially thought the problem was poorly fitted door seals, but the dealer informed me that it was excess water from the window that had not drained away. The garage replaced all of the ancillary carriers and many other door parts. This fix appears to have worked as the car no longer mists up when stood ....... and for the first time since owning the car I have not had to use the air-con to keep the screen clear. Significant improvement in economy without a/c.

My advice to anyone who is experiencing abnormal condensation is open the doors after it has rained, if water has collected at the bottom then get it checked by a dealer. Dealers are well aware of this problem with Fabias so don't take any bull.

Anyways, happy motoring.

Andy

All of them :) The rear ones in particular though.

my vrs does mists up a lot more than my old comfort pd100 tdi did, makes me appreciate the aircon.

i wonder if it has anything to do with types of fabric used on differing trim levels?

  • 3 weeks later...

I had one door fixed that started to leak a few moth ago on warrenty .

Both backdoor started to leak two weeks ago so it
