Sensor ? on heated rear view mirro

Featured Replies

I dont know if anyone has an answer. I have an Octy Elegance 2013 that I wish to fit a Dashcam.

The ideal location is obviously behind the rear view mirror.

However on looking at the mirror I see there appears to be a sensor on the back (Windscreen) face.

Does any one know what this is please and will fitting a dashcam there affect it, if it is a sensor?

thanks for your help.

Rain sensor by the looks of it.

I would imagine that occluding its view would stop it doing its thing. (Unless it's acoustic?) No idea how they work TBH.

I would have a guess and say it's the light meter for the auto dimming mirror.  The mirror needs to know when it's dark so it can auto dim. The rain sensor isn't fitted to the mirror itself but fastened directly onto the inside of the windscreen.

Thank Auric Goldfinger.

After thinking about it last night, that was my guess as well. I appreciate the replies, thanks,
