Grabbed a pic tonight of the LED boot light in action:

Now that does make a difference. A worthwhile mod :)

Our Volvo uses bright white boot interior lights as standard; assume LED  :wonder:

Particularly like the fact that not only have they fitted a light in a similar position to the Spaceback but also one in the tailgate, which shines down to illuminate the whole boot area ; now there's a simply clever idea Skoda

Just received my new LED light from Superskoda and still to fit, will have to look up Chris's notes on fitting

Very simple - just pop out the old light fitting, unplug it from the power connector, plug the new LED assembly onto the power connector and reinsert into the hole. If it doesn't fit, rotate it so the power connector end is at the other end.

Hi Chris,

Fitted Boot LED light tonight, a bit tight had to file hole slightly.

WOW really bright! ;<)

HOWEVER, closed boot and looked in via folded down back seat and there was still some low light on the LED bulb.

Worried that this would drain battery. ;<(

Not sure why this is? But sure will there is a reason and possible solution.???????

Don't panic - and yes, I filed the hole on mine a little as well :)

The LED array retains some current after the power is cut - it's not draining the battery, it's energy still trapped in the LED circuit and it eventually dissipates after a few minutes.

It's a common issue with many automotive LED retrofits. Nothing to worry about.

PHEW thanks Chris

Will refit tomorrow (excuse me being cynical but will check at intervals to ensure current drains out and light goes off.)

I thought it might be permanent low voltage/current running through the circuit to check/test for bulb failure

It will go out as do the interiors after a time as its a safe measure so it doesn't drain. My Octavia was the same and I never had no bother in 7 years.

well changed bulbs like other thread said but i noticed when i turn key for lights to come on to check then off again that the engine strange clicking sounds about 2 , 3 times is this normal??

Well, refitted LED boot light and left it for 4 hours and it was still showing a low light?

So removed it again!

Not sure where this leaves me?? Chris are you sure yours goes out completely????

Googled it and found this.

If your leds stays dimly lit with the car off, add 1k ohm 1/2w resistor in parallel to the socket and it will fix this problem.

I will recheck mine tonight, but 99.99% sure mine goes off eventually.

Either way, no adverse effects or flat battery.
