What are the main differences between the 90psi and the 110psi?

Featured Replies

Hello guys I had ordered a new monte carlo in white in the 110psi engine. Thought everything was fine when I went to sign for the paperwork on Saturday for the car. I had forgotten my passport so I called in this morning to finish the paperwork.

After waiting the sales guy I was dealing with told me there was a problem. The car he was putting me into was a monte carlo they had from the showroom so when he went to register it to put a new reg on he told me skoda wouldn't allow him to sell the car as it was going to be used as a demonstrator or something like that.

However they had plenty of 90psi in stock and also in grey as I couldn't really afford to wait another month or so as it was going to be expected Oct delivery date for the car.

What are the main differences between the two engines other than the 6 speed box as the sales guy told me it's the same engine etc so I'm assuming the slight difference in power is due to the mapping. I was wondering if I was to get it remapped in theory it should be able to push the same power as the 110 if that was also remapped for more power?

Has anyone heard of these being mapped and what power they are pushing?

Thanks, leprejohn

They are identical physically. It's just the mapping.

If was a choice between 5 speed and 6 speed I'd want a 6 speed though.

You will Void the Manufacturers Warranty by Re-mapping it.

As well to call Skoda UK Customer Services and see where there is a car in the UK suiting the Spec you want

if that dealer does not want to or can not sell the car they are away to use as a Demonstrator for 3 months /3,000 miles.

one is an overinflated tyre the other is a ridiculously overinflated tyre

Yeah the dealership had told me the same but I am a bit annoyed about it as I was told that stock was coming to the UK and that I had a factory order looks not. Plus I hadn't heard anything from the dealer for a few weeks it was only after chasing them and I was able to get something moving

20 hp.

:)

Lol

Think you need to talk to the Dealer Principal or Skoda UK. Sounds shoddy to me. Have a go at CARWOW. They will put your enquiry out to just about all Skoda dealers and someone might have what you want...or be prepared to look at "in country but waiting for allocation. Stock. You're the boss in this situation.

Tbf I just needed a car and went with the monte which I don't regret doing at all. The 6th gear would be handy but I've not really needed it the 90ps is great. I tried to speak to Skoda UK but was told that they don't deal with stock etc that it was down to my dealer

Are we talking diesel or petrol engines here?

Petrol I'd think!

Bit confused - have you taken the 90ps unit? If so, why?

If not, to be frank, I'd want the car I'd ordered and 20ps and the 6sp box on a small car like the Fabia would make a huge difference in performance and drivability.

At the time I needed a car as my girlfriend was being kicked out of her brothers where she was living and I had needed a car for work after waiting a month thinking yeah I'll have the car was only told 4 days before collecting the car I just went for something that they had in stock as it was easier.

I don't regret getting the 90psi it's nice and tbf I've not really needed the 6th gear for the driving that I do to work etc it would be handy yes but not something I'm fussed at

Is see. Given it was their balls-up, Id've pushed the dealer for a demo until the car I'd ordered appeared, but still I presume you paid less for the 90ps too? One other thing; if you're happy with the 90ps, why are you considering the additional expense of a remap?

It worked out cheaper for me and I also got it in grey which when I saw it in the showroom I was like wow. They did lend me a car till mine was ready as the dealer told me I could collect the car but he didn't tell me to come in and sign the finance documents.

I was just curious to see about the remap but tbf I probably won't encase it screws with the warranty
