Vcds on Ebay

Featured Replies

Hi, Just noticed that on that famous site there are people selling laptops with what looks like genuine Ross Tech cable/paperwork,software etc. Are these genuine products? Just a bit wary cos they seem too cheap.

Cheap = Fake. Especially if they come with a specific version of the software.

That's what i was thinking, The photo's show what they are selling,  The paperwork looks like a genuine certificate and the cable looks legit?

PM me some links and I will soon tell you.

There were 2 people about 12 months ago buying every second hand Ross tech interface that became available then banging them on cheap tablet pcs and selling them for £500+

those were the genuine article but recently there's been a huge influx of people buying laptops and hammering them with as much cracked software as they can download off Utorrent, with or without leads and people are buying them for £150+ !?

This will enable you to check for trouble codes on the engine. You can use free Tourqe app if you have Android. There you will be able to display also few data from your car (speed, temperature, etc.).

But this is also everything that you will be able to do with this interface. So, basically this is a nice cheap toy to play, but not able to do any real work. Except if you need deleting trouble codes on the engine.

PS: If you buy one, buy the one with on/off switch, so you can leave it connected to OBD all the time and there are also smaller available. For example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELM327-Bluetooth-OBD2-II-Car-Auto-Diagnostic-Scanner-Tool-ON-OFF-Switch-Android-/111328743157?hash=item19ebb5cef5:g:RKcAAOSwGvhT4vef (I do not have any experience with this one in my link, it is just an example)

Thanks Mtl for the advice. I'll check it out. I've heard other buy tool/software on Ross-Tech? Any experience with that?

Yes, some experience :). You can do a lot with VCDS, including code many new features. Then you have also VCP.

Will Carista work on the MQB platform and does it have the ability to change adaptation channels on MQB platform?

Very little is done by coding now on the MQB, you have around 2000 adaptation channels on controller 09 to play with for starters :)

I know it is fine for A5 platform cars, just wondered if anyone had risked connecting it to MQB yet?
