I know it's been asked on here before but I am after some thoughts and opinions on this. Basically, I want to have my 18" Neptune's refurbed in Black Chrome and was advised TWS are the best of the best.

 

 

I've completed numerous online quotes (even changed the postcode) and kept getting back an instant email from the Manchester branch, prolly as it's closet to me. They want £336 all in. Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that you get what you pay for etc but even a quote from the main gaffer at the Birmingham outfit (apparently this is one of the most popular choices?) quoted me £320 all in.

 

 

This to me, seems a bit high considering I've seen prices on here floating around the £280ish mark. I was hoping to get some emails back with discounts or offers but this hasn't happened. Perhaps I should ring Birmingham & Manchester and play them off one another and try to win custom?

 

 

I'm happy to pay good money and have heard they are top notch when it comes to powder coating but I'm not entirely happy paying top whack when people have posted praise to them because of a really good discount.

 

 

Any advice please?

Wait. I had a similar online quote which I did nothing with.

A few days later I got a call offering me a special VIP discount (or some other such fictitious reason for providing a lower price) which was some £50 lower iirc.

I've just had five wheels refurbished at TWS, Burton on Trent. The first quote was for about£440, but I eventually got them done for £400. That was for a drive in, drive out job. It would probably have been cheaper if I had left loose wheels without the need to strip tyres and refit etc.

£80 per wheel sounds about right, but if a particular branch is quiet, you may get a better deal.

At the end of the day, compared to the price I've been quoted locally (to me) for painting the wheels, TWS do a good job, which should last a long time as long as you don't kerb them and apply a good sealant to protect the finish.

TWS Birmingham got back to me and said they would match a quote I passed on of £280. Pretty damn pleased with that but asked them to re evaluate if I decided to get all 4 brake calipers re painted as well as they're worn to buggery.

 

Got a separate quote of £340, meaning £15 per caliper. So, including the wheels & calipers, all apparently same day, would you say that's a fair price?

i have recently used smart wheels in manchester,all 5 17" alloys re-furbished for £300 ,they look like new and they dont charge you extra for taking / putting tyres back on 

I paid 60 quid a wheel at alloy wheel solutions in Hereford. Top top service all brand new equipment. Removes tyres and balances them up after. Highly recommend them!

The online quote system will always show the highest price

Talk to them and you should get some discount

I paid £300 for mine at the Leeds branch

Mate Alan had used them and procured a discount through his car website...but if you tell them you've been recommended by others, then the price should be lower..they like recommendations

I paid £250 for my set of Neptune's to be refurbished at the Birmingham branch in April this year.

I was happy with the price and even happier with the finish.
