Rapid Advice

Haha pretty obvious really. Why the comparison?

A totally different car in another class as I said before. Anyway the boot in my Rapid was huge. Almost the same as my MK2 Octavia.

I am so far very pleased with my New Rapid Sport. I've changed from a 2009 BMW 320D Touring for family duties and so far so good! I have the amundsen Nav/Infotainment system and this seems to be very 'high-end' and I don't feel like I'm making such a big compromise stepping from the BMW. (It doesn't have auto climate control but I'm actually finding that a bonus - I found myself constantly fiddling with the supposedly auto climate systems in previous cars!).

The build quality seems pretty good so far, I had to adjust the seats a few times to get comfy on my long drive on monday morning but I'm there now. I don't have any issue with the sound system.

We did initially enter the showroom to look around an Octavia but as we intended to 'downsize' when we 'tried it on' we thought the octavia was too big so we were steered to the Rapid - it ticked all the boxes, plenty of space in the back for my 2 kids (aged 8 and 6), and lots of safety kit as standard. The fact that the boot was simply cavernous was a major draw though - I reckon it's equally as big as the boot in my BMW Touring and will be very handy for family holidays/Christmas etc. It drives very smoothly - It won't be breaking Nurburgring Records but then in my BMW I never did powerslides into Tesco Carpark...

The sport added a few bells and whistles but I liked the styling with the fancy 17" alloys, contrasting black trim and funky sports seats with diamond quilting.

It won't be breaking Nurburgring Records... but it wasn't that band on the Nurburgring...

My question is what has

airscool

gone for?

Well after the lively debate I am still very interested in one! I need to get down to the local Skoda Stealer and have a good look round both the Spaceback and the Saloon and at least test drive the 1.2 TDi engine.

Shame we can't afford a new, or a very nearly new one, but we're not in a huge rush so maybe we can get a good deal in the run up to Christmas on a 2014 model.

Does anybody know what improvements came on board during last summer - and also what I might be missing not buying new? I'll probably look towards the SE when making a choice unles an Elegance pops up at the right price.

I had seen the nurburgring video - I think the driver flattered the car! The tyres certainly compalined the entire lap!

My test drive was in a 2014 car - the differences are slight but the Sat Nav/infotainment system is improved for 2015 with a bigger screen and more emphasis on touch screen functionality. The engines are revised too I was told - the 1.2 is up on power and economy for 2015. Some people have moaned about not having one touch driver window control - my 2015 definately has one touch up and down on the driver's window.

The driver was brilliant it's true

9:17 in a 1.2 Rapid on 15 inch tyres

Still the car is surprisingly capable I think - Only a minute and change slower than a Leon 280 / Renault Megane F1 / Honda type R (whatever the fwd record holder is this month)

The 2015 models have the same 1.2/105 as before.

The new 2016 models have all the new...um...indicators?  satnav?  apple compatibility? and is there any more?

and also the 110 rated engine - so still less than the dyno numbers say the105 puts out (114 to 120 I've read here and elsewhere.)

Went to pay for my new Seat Toledo Style Advanced yesterday (collect Saturday) and lo and behold it had just arrived. The Kessy seems to be smart and the salesmen, apparently, had been trying to work out how this particular variation worked. The 6.5 inch touchscreen module is awesome but probably too complicated for an old fogy like me!The car seemed lush but needed a wash and polish. One thing that struck me was how quiet the 1.2 TSI 110ps engine is in comparison to the already quiet  TSI 86ps engine  in my present Rapid. Will supply more details (if anyone is interested) when I actually get to drive it.

I was in the stealers yesterday and their saloon version had four electric windows (as in there were the extra buttons for the driver)... um that was about all I could see, oh and the posh touch screen audio units (which if of the sat nav variety are free to update - unlike my one!)

free updates for SatNav? Is this true? I'd be well chuffed if it is! I did read somewhere that the Superb gets free Nav updates for life - didn't think it applied to the Rapid. The Nav Data is on an SD Card and I bought myself a cheapo 16Gb SD card to dump my itunes library onto later to go in SD slot 2...

We, well some of us are interested inToledos, the more the merrier. Will be interesting to see the latest model. I can't go near car dealers just yet, because my missus gets a bit nervous I might buy again.
