12v socket

Featured Replies

Is it straight forward to convert the front 12v socket to only come on when the ignition is on.  I keep on forgetting to plug in the camera until halfway through a journey.

Thanks

Just wire your camera to a switched live, that's easier than changing the socket to switched.

Agreed.

My camera is fed a permanent live (12v) and also a switched live (rear windscreen wiper) managed by powermagic pro.

Much easier to just change the feed instead of trying to convert it from permanent to switched.

Not on the octavia you can't.

Sure about that? It works in the Golf 7, Seat Leon mk3 and Audi A3 8V (all MQB-cars)...

Pity!

Correct, the terminals aren't there for this to happen.Somewhere on the forum it mentioned a piggy back fuse holder from eBay. I fitted one to the rear wiper fuse point. Then negative wire to a bolt in fuse box area.

I have my camera system set up so that it can be switched off completely, or once switched on via a remote switch with the ignition live it will run until you switch it off or the power magic recognises it needs to shut down. If you shut it down it needs the ignition on the start it running, but once on it runs permanantly.
