front passenger seat

Featured Replies

Hi the front passenger seat on my 2lt tdi elg has a mind of its own.Backrest reclines when the car is left overnight.Help please.

Many thanks Maddison.

There is a service campaign mentioned in a later thread - 70E8 - which is an update to the seat adjustment control unit. No idea if this is in relation to this issue or not though....

The backrest on my passenger seat often seems to do this. However I have seen for sure that my wife sits on the switch when leaving the car and that's the reason why!

I have found that when my better half gets out the car as she turns on the seat to put her legs out the car she somehow catches the buttons and move the seat with out realising!

My wife does the same when exiting the car too, turns sideways and her thighs adjust the seat back.... sometimes squashing the kids in the back! Be more BRISK-when leaving the SKODA I tell her.

Your not alone there, same here! It's never her fault of course - must be something wrong with the seat!!

To be fair, a slight repositioning of the controls (maybe more flush with the side of the seat) would probably help avoid some of this.

True, but it's amazing how we don't do it getting out the drivers seat! Dare not tell the OH why I think she keeps catching the buttons! I value my life!

Yes. I've been wondering the same. But in my case I can't believe it's the reason I'm guessing you think. I'm not small, you see.

I'm not telling the OH either, but here is my PC explanation......it is simply caused by the portion of thigh that is not self supported over the seat edge contacting the seat adjuster or, this combined with sufficient weight to deform the seat side bolster to cause a thigh/seat adjuster interference.
