OEM phone holder for larger phones?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

apologies for a possible duplicate thread, but I searched to no avail for a discussion on this, even though I seem to remember reading it somewhere.

Currently using an iPhone 5S, and it fits wonderfully in the phone holder near the handbrake. However, I don't believe it would fit a larger phone such as an iPhone 6.

I know there are aftermarket options and holders, but I kind of grew used to that type of phone holder and was wondering if anyone had found an OEM (or close to OEM) solution?

Have perhaps Skoda started offering one with an enlarged slot?

Thanks!

P.S. On a related note, anyone have any idea who actually manufactures the Columbus Sat Nav for Skoda?

Well my MY16 came with the same size holder -went straight into the cupboard- so nothing has changed.  Got to be a market opening here :$$$:  :$$$:  :$$$:.

Whilst it will be minor irritation only, I was surprised my phone didn't fit when I sat in a Scout. I don't think I have a particularly large phone either. Presumably all iPhones fit fine!!??

As soon as I got my car home the naff 2p phone holder when in a cupboard somewhere.  IPhone6 sits fine in the cup holder...

I can't think of a use for the phone holder even if my phone did fit in it. If I want to plug the phone into the USB socket then the best place for the phone is on top of the "phone box" lid in front of the gear stick, if not then it stays in my pocket.

Thanks all, it seems that if there is no apparent replacement (as said, I grew used to the phone holder), will just try an iPhone 6 with a case in the cup holder without the phone holder.

I just put mine in the phone holder box in front of the gear stick, isn't that what it's there for.

Its called a media holder, so I think its designed for an iPod or smaller.

But most people use big mobiles these days.

My old Samsung Galaxy S3 won't fit either.

Hi guys,

P.S. On a related note, anyone have any idea who actually manufactures the Columbus Sat Nav for Skoda?

The two parts are made by different manufacturers. The screen units are made by Alpine, and the drive units (with dvd and sd card drives) are made by Harmon. Mapping is by TomTom.

So I'm led to believe...

I just put mine in the phone holder box in front of the gear stick, isn't that what it's there for.

My 4.7" phone doesn't fit in it there if it's plugged into the USB.

Try it upside down, it won't mind

My iPhone 6 won't fit into the holder - that's all right though as I tend to have pens and other things in it to keep the car tidy!

I have a silicone mat on the top centre of the dash. Then a USB cable from 12v socket to this. Sticky pad clips on the side of the console upto centre air vent, cable tied to one of these. Left enough cable to plug in and charge

I find the phone holder is perfect for storing my badge for work....

Phone goes in the phonebox

Any update on this?

I saw what appears to bea new version of the OEM one in the photo attached but I can't find any info on it.
