Sound Deadening

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Me and a few others were looking at arranging a possible group buy for some sound deadening for our MK1 Fabia vrs. I got into contact with Mike at Sound Deadening Shop and said we have at least 5 people interested.

Instead of a group buy he has kindly offered a 10% discount to forum memers bringing the price down to £76.49 which includes free next working day deliver if ordering before 3pm on the one were interested in.

Use checkout code: SKODASC10

He's also said that he will keep the code open for forum members so hopefully there will be no time limit. Hope this helps, I'll be ordering mine fairy soonish possibly after payday. I just thought i'd put this thread up to anyone that has considered doing it in the past or for the future.

Jamie

It's not quite a GB - more of a discount code.

Anyway, 10% is better than nothing so making it aware to the masses.

How many sheets do u need to cover a car? The link says it's for 40 sheets. Is that enough, too much?

Same stuff I used (bought on Amazon), works well. Surfaces need to be clean and warm if you can, also watch the edges it's bloody sharp.

Don't suppose you've done a guide on this tech1e? Curious to see how much difference and how many sheets are required

Not a guide a such. Lots of pics in my project thread. Looks like mine are smaller sheets. I bought a box of 30 for around £25. Done all the doors and have about 10 left.

I did my whole boot, I'll get some pics.

I'm still in 2 minds if its made a big difference, as there is still quite a lot of road noise, probably need a realignment done before I will notice a difference.

Back in the day when I restored various cars and built a kit car I used stick on bitumen  pads to great effect for soundproofing  - particularly good on the bulkhead of my Etype Jag replica , drastically reduced noise and booming. The big advantage of bitumen pads is they are quite thin so don't interfere with existing carpets etc , and they are cheap!

I additionally used traditional felt (or similar) soundproofing where space allowed
