Part number request: Octy 2 FL - Tailgate Trim & Clips

Featured Replies

I have just one annoying rattle/squeak from my car and after much searching I am now 99% convinced it is the tailgate trim that is causing the problem.

This has been removed in the past when I lost my rear windscreen. There was a lot of glass left inside the tailgate and this trim was removed - the squeak developed soon after and I've lived with it for quite some time.

Last visit to main dealers I asked them to take a quick look (out of warranty) and they were convinced that there was at least one clip missing but they also couldn't tell me for sure if the trim itself wasn't bent/damaged.

I've looked at the instructions for the removal and replacement of said trim and it scares the hell out of me. What I'd like to do is see how much this would cost to replace - so I get all the parts and then pay a garage (probably a main dealer) to remove the old one and replace with the new one, all new clips etc.

So - story included for reference, but really probably not required. I'm looking for the part numbers for:

Octy Mk2 FL Tailgate trim - the alrge piece that covers the entire tailgate.

Clips - I believe there are 9 or 10 clips holding it in place (possibly come with above - but knowing Skoda, it won't)

Cheers all.

Go to skodaparts.com they have everything with massive discounts ATM all genuine parts and great service.

Just use website to find the parts or call them. I've used them without fault for weird n wonderful parts.

I've just dropped them a line.

On the website I can find the upper trim pieces - the bit that runs around the windscreen.

That bit appears firmly secured on my car, it's the bottom part of the trim that runs from just below the windscreen to the tailgate, behind the numberplate etc. I'm looking for.

Hopefully they will know.

The trims aren't that bad to remove (done it too many times!)

As for clips, try S4B0867276A. It's listed as "clamp" but I got 6 of these @ 0.54p ea for my tailgate trim. Just beware there're a couple of clips that differ slightly, they're set at 90deg to the rest. A bit difficult to explain but with the trim off they're nearer the middle as opposed to edge clips.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

Thanks for the post.

With the picture you posted - it's the top most one that I'm trying to do. I can open the boot and place both hands on that trim and "simulate slight vibration" and all I here is squeak, squeak, rattle, rattle.

I've tried to be clever with "no more nails" tape in the gaps, but cannot help feeling it wants removing and all the clips replacing. Just when the mechanics took a quick look they thought the trim may have been damaged when the ham-fisted Autoglass guy had his hands on it.

I'd love to find someone I could shower with some beer tokens to do it for me as I know they would probably do a better job than the dealers...

For completion, I believe I've got the 3 part codes I require:

1Z5 867 957 H - Lower tailgate trim

4B0 867 276 A - Pack of 10 clips

3B9 867 289 - Pack of 2 retaining clips

Been quoted £52.16 (not sure if they quote ex or inc VAT) for the trim itself - I expect the clips are going to be pretty nominal prices.

This is Skoda we are talking about, I don't think they are familiar with the words of ''Nominal prices'' :)   .. I know years ago my old Primera rear trim clips were £1 each, And that had 15 of them to hold the rear hatch trim on, Nissan didn't have a clue about reasonable pricing either..

I've had that trim off several times (earlier thread on rattle) and it's really quite easy. Referring to the previous top image,

Removing:

Remove fixing screw -2- (1.5 Nm) of the door handle -1-.

Loosen bottom trim panel for tailgate -3- at rear and on the sides -arrows B- with edge -3409- (begin in the area of the -arrow A-).

Loosen bottom trim panel for tailgate -3- at front -arrow C- with edge -3409- and remove trim panel from the tailgate -5-.

Installing:

Installation is carried out in the reverse order; pay attention to the following points:

Recondition the clips -4- in the bottom trim panel for the tailgate -3-, if necessary replace with new ones.

----

These are Skoda instructions but basically work carefully around the edge of the trim with a wide flat tool. Remember, the clips are only push fit so will need a little effort to pull out.

The clips S4B0867276A can be bought in less than 10 pack if needed (I did). 54p ea for the clips.

Best of luck.

"wide flat tool" - Forgetting the "ooo errr missus" comments, something that looks like a metal ruler for example? Just slide it along the edges and effectively push the trim from the clips? Or am I actually removing the clips with the trim - they are attached more firmly to the trim than the tailgate?

I think once I've got the new trim I'll be more willing to be a little "rougher" with the old one, knowing I'm fitting a brand new one. And my plan is to remove and replace every single clip - hence my idea to buy the pack of 10 clips and the 2 retaining clips (I'm assuming they are the ones at a different angle you mentioned before).

Want it to be "all new" in the hope that will stock the squeak and rattle once and for all.

By a trim removal kit off ebay.

You could get something like this.. http://www.screwfix.com/p/hilka-pro-craft-10-in-1-trim-removal-tool-pieces/19346?kpid=19346&cm_mmc=Google-_-Product%20Listing%20Ads-_-Sales%20Tracking-_-sales%20tracking%20url&cm_mmc=Google-_-Shopping%20-%20Car%20and%20Van-_-Shopping%20-%20Car%20and%20Van&gclid=CJTKtf7n-8cCFcFuGwodIBQH3g&kpid=19346

but a wallpaper scraper or similar would do equally well.

You're aiming to remove the clips with the trim, though some may be left in the tailgate (depends on how well they were initially fitted to the trim).

It really is more straightforward than you think.
