Zero % PCP

Featured Replies

I've had no issues the last 4 or 5 cars I've sold privately and always got substantially more than the Px price.

That said, brokers do px too, the one I'm buying from does and will pick up the car when they drop off the new. But I'd only px if the price remotely reflected the cars true value which it rarely does.

Any idea how long this offer is likely to last? I initially thought about buying approved used, but the 0% means there's not much in it now. Busy for next few weekends though so will be miffed if I miss it!

You can still negotiate a discount with your dealer when using the 0% PCP. It won't be as good as paying cash but the 0% is already a saving when compared to the apr offered by other manufacturers.

VW are doing 5% for example.

If I buy an Octavia VRS TDI DSG for the list price of £25465, put down a 10% deposit and 41 monthly payments I'll save £2000 in interest.

Add the 'dealer deposit contribution' and you've got a 10% discount.

For mine, I managed to get another 5% knocked off by the dealer after the usual negotiations but didn't take them up on the trade-in offered on my car.

Very useful xdq - thanks.

Previously I've always saved up and paid cash, but if I'm changing in three years the outlay on 0% PCP over that time isn't a million miles away from what I would have stumped up in one go (c£15k). Unless I've missed something...

I think it should be as straightforward as you're expecting.

Pay a small initial sum/deposit

Pay your monthly payments

towards the end you can either:

Give the car back (paying for any mileage overage + damage repairs) and buy the next one using your own money as the deposit

OR

Take the car to another dealer and see what they'll offer as trade-in. If it's more than the GMFV then that difference becomes your next deposit.

I plan to keep the car for about 6 years so I've chosen a different route:

Pay a bigger deposit ~20% and choose a longer payment period meaning that the majority of the car is interest free.

After 41 months I can then re-finance the last £10k over 3 years for similar monthly payments or pay it off from savings if interest rates aren't favourable at that point.

Very useful xdq - thanks.

Basically to get the 0% PCP the dealer has to contribute about 6% so you will only get about 4 or 5% dealer reduction, instead of about 10% for cash (assuming you haggle reasonably hard)

Another way of doing it is to minimise the deposit, and put spare cash in a bank in highest interest account you can find, then set up a monthly standing order to pay the amount of interest equivalent into your savings account as you wont be paying it out.  At the ed of the PCP should then have a pot of cash to help pay off the remainder.    There are some regular saver accounts out there that pay a higher interest rate, but you normally have to move the money annually as the default to a negligible rate after 12 months.

If you save just £50 per month, then after 42 months should have about £2300 with interest.   if you also saved the deposit then that is additional cash available at the time the balance is due

It seems that I may have got very lucky and got a 0% PCP and a rather large discount too...

Do go on... What deal did you get with your 0% pcp?

I'll post up once I've collected it :)

When you due to collect?

When you due to collect?

Today/Tomorrow, but a few little issues have popped up.

Hopefully it'll all be resolved and I'll collect next week.

I am sure I was told that my 0% interest PCP deal (October 2014) included free annual servicing but can't now find that anywhere in the blurb I have.

Anyone else had theirs come up for service yet?

You should have had a separate letter telling you that your car was registered for it.

Some dealerships have been known to forget to do it.

You can usually get more than 5% discount on 0% pcp. Just a case of finding a good broker deal or a dealer desperate to meet target. I got about 7.5% discount.

I went to walk out and I eventually got them to 7.4% discount and zero pcp %.

5 weeks time and I'll have my vrs.

Is that a standard Skoda offer or only at certain dealers?

It was part of the Skoda finance offer at the time.

It was part of the Skoda finance offer at the time.

I must have missed out on that one.

It's come and gone, and has sometimes excluded the VRS.

Mine was ordered around October 2013.

Yeah ignore me, my brain skipped the bit where ednmra said 2014.
