110 TDI power up and down

Featured Replies

Hi

My 2002 Octavia periodically suffers a power lose. Will only rev to 4000 rpm and is very flat. If I stop and switch off/on again it resets and normal power is restored and I get no problem for sometime....a week or more.

A motor engineer has told me, he has the same fault with his  vehicle (the same). He says that I am leaving my foot slightly on the clutch pedal when changing up and says there is switch on it that causes the fault. No faults light comes on, although on long journeys sometimes the yellow heater plug dash indicator starts flashing for about a minute and then goes off again causing no engine effect.

Don't know if the 2 are connected. Would appreciate some input. Car has done genuine 115k, I've had it from 36k and no problems with it until now. I've cleaned the airflow sensor but has no effect.

Regards

That's limp mode for some reason, you need a scan. The ecu has picked up on something outside of its normal parameters and you need to know what, scan should point you in the right direction. You don't always have EML come on with a code and/or limp mode.

Sounds like sticking veins on the turbo causing over boost and limp mode. I have the same problem periodically but since changing my air filter for an S2000 one and disconnecting the little vacuum pipe from the air box I've not had the problem. Might be worth pulling it off and see if it makes any difference? Glow plug light flashing could be brake light switch fault. Getting it plugged into a computer is the first thing to do though.
