OK, Sump has been smashed by impact damage (car arrived lowered, very lowered:eek:) Helen remembers it bottoming out about 1/2 mile before things started going tits up.

Can't you try claiming impact damage on your normal car insurance - did you clip an obstruction or hole in the road ?

My insurance company covered me for stone damage to the air-con, so I guess it could be possible - provided you have protected no-claims! Mind you, might still be cheaper even if you don't, dependent on what else is damaged.

I see this alot to be honest. Alot of the VAG engines are mounted really low. Usually your insurance should cover the damage as it was an accident after all.
