Scratches on windows

Featured Replies

I've noticed My 2014 vrs has scratches on the nearside front and rear side windows, these scratches are also present but not as bad on the other side too. So after winding the windows fully down I've noticed that the felt like seal on the inside of the rubber seal is hard dry and "gritty". This is only on one side of each window which coincidently is where the scratches are, the other side of the seal feels soft as it should! Had anyone else noticed scratches on the windows? If so have a feel at the felt like seal inside the top of the door, the car is booked in to skoda on Tuesday where I'm hoping they accept that it is totally unacceptable for a seal that's less than 2 years old to dry up and cause the windows to scratch! And hopefully they can replace seals under warranty and sort out my scratches!

My near side passenger is really badly scratched. But that's from using an ice scraper. I won't be using it again.

I've owned many cars and I've never known a car glass scratch so easily! I wondered for weeks what it was but after feeling how rough the felt is I can only assume it's the culprit especially as it's on 3 of 4 windows!

I have scratches on the inside of my front windows. They are tinted though so will prone to scratch easier, however it's the first car I've had that has scratched window film.

The scratches run about a cm down at the top,of the glass, where it sits in the felt.

This happened on my MkII. It is the rubbers collecting dirt and it hardens. Solution is to regularly clean them. Very irritating, especially since they don't clear the water as easily on the MkIII when you drop the glass, which seems to thinner, prob to help save weight.

I have no dirt as the car at the time had only done 2500 miles. Will have to take a closer look at it.

You can polish out light scratches with ceriglass kit. I use one in my machine polishing arsenal. :)
