Colours?

Featured Replies

I've done my research and I think yes, it's worth it. If you're interested you can Google to your hearts content. I'm not here to promote any product but to give you an idea - it can only be applied by accredited detailers and for good reason. You get it wrong and your looking at 2000 grain sandpaper removal:

I have to say I had two of these products on my last 2 cars one was Diamond something from Peugeot and my MkII Superb I had Gard X and I can recommend them both and will be having it again on MKIII.

I've gone for Rosso Brunello but I am also going to get a paint protection put on. I've researched a few and settled on a G Techniq Protection Detail with Crystal Serum upgrade. It's not cheap but has a long guarantee and will make cleaning very easy.

Who are you getting to apply it? Have you got a price for it yet as this is something I would love to get done.

I can highly recommend someone in Gillingham (Kent)

I think you are referring to KDS and that's who I want to have apply the Crystal Serum. I've yet to get an official quote but looking at their price structure I am expecting something near 1K.

Thanks,

Yes it was Kelly @ KDS I was referring to, having both seen the work he does and attended one of his training days I personally would not take the car anywhere else.

This is what Kelly told me 16 months ago when I enquired regarding SWMBO’s Yeti (which has quite small panels) these prices are +VAT:

Crystal Serum is a brand new product that, on all our tests, is proving to be by far the most durable coating we’ve ever seen.  Wet-sanding doesn’t remove it, so we would expect it to last for multiple years quite easily.  The advantage of the Crystal Serum upgrade (over the old C1) is very significant and even though the upgrade is £200, £150 of that is down to the price of the bottle of Crystal Serum itself.  However it’s £200 to upgrade on top of choosing GTechniq as an option, so you’d be talking £435 (which is £245 + the upgrade) on top of the £340 New Car Protection detail if you wanted to take that route.  See here: http://www.kdskeltec.co.uk/price-menu/optional-extras/g-techniq.  That’s obviously a bit daft, which is why we introduced the GTechniq Protection Detail.

What you actually need is our GTechniq Protection Detail + Crystal Serum upgrade.  As that already includes the GTechniq base, you only pay the upgrade for Crystal Serum and the total is therefore £635.  This includes Crystal Serum on all painted surfaces AND the wheels, giving very-long-term protection even in those vulnerable areas.  On top of that, we use GTechniq EXO as a finishing product which itself adds further long-term protection plus a more slippery smooth feel.  You also get the glass coated in GTechniq products, and the exterior trim as well (you don’t get all this on the New Car Protection detail).  From a value for money perspective, this is the superior choice.

Yeah, I was including any paint correction that may be needed before applying the GTechniq Protection Detail. I've budgeted for 1K in case the paint isn't up to scratch (no pun intended) ;)

I suspect even through it's a new car there could be something that needs correction and once that serum is on there's no going back! I'll get a vehicle inspection when I take it in to see what they say.

Bloody hell ! I thought I was obsessed when it came to paintwork ! Looks like I'm just an amateur ! :-)

I'd budgeted about £50 for a new wheel brush and some wax !

^^^ OMG Katie Price has ordered one???

That is horrific

I dont know if you notice but in Frankfurt Auto Show blue metallic car is neither lava blue, nor petrol blue, I dont understand why Skoda showcase colours which are not available.

Well that's the thing... I don't like cleaning the car. The metallic beige on the Octavia can go a long time between washes without looking too bad so it works for me.

I had it on an Octavia and it was the easiest colour to keep clean of all the cars I've had. Never looked bad even if the dirt had built up

Thats putting it mildly! You wouldn't be worried about depreciation if you chose that colour.

Probably just clever marketing. I'm sure certain colours have been proven to be psychologically more appealing to prospective buyers and cars look best in certain colours (which are probably not practical or too expensive to manufacture). I suppose It's a bit like a showhouse being furnished with smaller than average furniture - you would never practically buy those items but they make a house look (artificially) more appealing to the eye and help make sales!
