Changing gear/upshift

Featured Replies

Hi! When I upshift, the revs drop too fast and the gear change is not as smooth as I want to be. I tried to shift faster, but my feeling is that I will wear the syncros rapidly. Another solution is to rev match like I do on downshifting. In my previous car I haven't occur this problem. Please tell me if someone have this "problem". I'm not a learner, but this is my first turbo car.

P.S. My current car is a Octavia III 1.2 TSI(105 BHP).

I've got the 1.2 TSi 110, it doesn't do that.

Does yours idle ok? Brakes aren't sticking on are they?

The idle is ok, but I'll put a video on YouTube to show you guys what is the problem. 1st 2nd 3rd gears the shift speed is ok. The problem begins when I shift to fourth, fifth and sixth. Maybe is my fault.

What was your previous car?
Several manufacturers have a nice function which controls the engine speed for a few seconds during shifting to match it with new engine speed when you reach the gear it predicts you are going for.

Skoda & VAG don't do this.

I don't think there should be any real differences in the time it takes for the engine revs to drop between a turbo non-turbo engine.

I dont often use 5th, I usually go 4th to 6th.

Better start using it to run it in.
