idle problem and cut out

Featured Replies

Hey guys I am new to this forum and I am looking for some advice

I have a skoda octavia 2009 tdi

The last few weeks I have had a small problem which happens when I start up the vehicle.

When the engine is warm and I go to start the ignition the car will start up fine but idle at around 600 before cutting out after a few seconds this only happens once or twice and then it will idle to around 700 and not cut out.

When I start my car in the morning when the engine is cold no problems at all starts first time and goes to idle straight at 800.

I have been told it could be anything from fuel filter to injectors just I am u sure where to start.

Do I take it to a garage so they can find the problem or wait until it goes completely ?

I have tried running a bottle of red ex just to see if they was a slight blockage but no luck

It also seems that the longer the car is running the worse the problem gets throughout the day

Please help

John

Fuel filter is probably the cheapest place to start.

Stupid advice but try to connect to computer first it may shows you somethink

A faulty coolant temperature sensor can cause funny things to happen.

Had it put on the diagnosticS showed nothing at all ... very strange sounds like an injector is failing ... It is going to garage next Tuesday

If the Cts is giving a reading which is wrong but within the correct range it won't log a fault.

Well the garages couldn't find any problems at all and suggested I wait until something actually goes

Booked it to change the cooling sensor

It's not turning over very well.

Any suggestions getting a new cts next week

What was used to check for faults? Was other vcds or some generic OBDII code reader?

No ****ing idea not the sensor

Clean the MAF carefully with some IPA to ensure it's not giving false readings. If any of the wires are broken then replace.

Use a high strength fuel cleaner such as BG244 or Archoil AR6400-d. Redex is ok for prevention but won't clear any build up.
