so yesterday my octy has been finally put on jersey plates, but had some advisories - two front tyres and rear brake discs and pads needs changing, so tyres are already on and brake discs and pads ordered(went for mintex drilled and grooved) had tracking done and changed spark plugs, air filter and pollen filter, I have to say it looked like it was still on original plugs and now it feels loads better :) its the little things

im not sure tbh, it says in service book that its been last changed in 2011 on 55k miles and then before i got it last week on 84k which is a clear lie, so unless someone changed it in between these times its been sitting there for 4 years :/

Yeah, service books. Unless it's necessary they won't change that...

I'd say that there's no need for changing these filters once per year but 4 years - that's a bit too much :)

I know its crazy how some people neglects their cars or leave stuff  for last minute or till it breaks, I like to change air filters once a year as over here you only do short trips

People are not always to blame. Someone visits a dealer to do the servicing. You might know about such filters because that dealer should take care of them. Even if you know - should you check them after each servicing? If you do that then why change them yourself? When I bought my car with all that service history, I visited a local garage to change all the filters. ALL of them were dirty. The dealer didn't think that it was necessary...but you still think that after each dealers servicing car gets the best they can do (you pay a lot for that ).

Changed air and pollen filter this year after 20k km. They weren't as white as the new ones but far from as dirty, as in your picture. So, probably next year I simply won't change them.

Service interval for the air filter is 60,000 miles.

yeah that is big true, i had this happening to myself- paid money for full service only to find that nothing except oil has been changed. ever since i am servicing cars myself, then go to service only for stamp :) and yeah i know its 60k miles but in Jersey you hardly do 5000 a year so i rather go with once a year change :)
