Featured Replies

with the recent google announcement of two nexus devices this year anybody on here picking one up

when the nexus one was released  back in 2010  i picked one against the advice of the chap at carphone warehouse and have been hooked on them ever since

i strayed once and picked a htc desire hd up and hated the htc overlay

having gotten used to the nexus 6 huge screen last year i dont think i could buy the new 5x and will probably be picking up the 6p in the next few weeks once they are available

anyone else loving nexus's and picking one up ???

Got a chromecast v2 in the post and a 32GB 5X on pre-order!

Went from Samsung Tocco Lite (S5230) to a Nexus 4 a few years ago. Had to wait about 18 months for it to become a "normal" size phone! :)

Have had Android 4.3 through 5.whatever-the-current-one-is. Still seems to work well, though one thing I do miss from earlier generations of phones is battery life.

Great handsets, but overpriced for what they are IMO. As are most phones, really, but the Nexus One (I had the original HTC Desire which was the same hardware, just easier to purchase) and Nexus 4 were top-of-the-range devices for average money, everything since then has been more in line with what the market will stand. I switched from my Nexus 4 to a OnePlus One because it felt more like what the Nexus range used to be, an aggressively-priced market leading handset.

Have a 2012 Nexus 7.

Google have progressively made it more and more crap with every update. Very unimpressed with a device which was once very slick now running like a dog. Andoid support ending now as well they're not porting V6.0 to the older devices.

V2 Chromecast arrived today, it's just as easy to use as the V1 and possibly slightly quicker. I'll find out more when I get it home and start using it properly.

It is a shame about the N7 2012, it was a great device when released but hasn't aged well at all with various updates. It did get three years of updates which is good for an android device.

I have the Nexus 5 and I'm waiting for the Nexus 5X to arrive in 2-3 weeks.

That's true, my 2012 N7 hasn't fared well either. Now runs CyanogenMod (which is still slow) for my daughter, but is very sluggish, the battery doesn't last as well, and it'll turn itself off for no reason.

I still have discount vouchers for Tesco, so I may well be off to buy a Hudl2 instead, I believe Android 5.x is now rolling out for them which would do me on a tablet.

Still rocking my old nexus 4 which is still good, but slowing down some and the battery isn't good anymore.

Have preordered a 32gb 5x in white. Was considering waiting for a moto X style, but this seemed a better deal.

I got an Amazon Fire7 HD refurb not that long ago for about £50. It is massively faster than the nexus 7 (2012). Not as glossy or made from the same quality of materials but much more powerful.

Cyanogen ROMs are garbage and make every device I've had slower

I think my favorite nexus would be galaxy nexus or nexus 3 if you like

Our lass loved my nexus 4 and 5 when I handed them down to her I think she is apprehensive getting my nexus 6 due to the big size jump in screen

Can't preordering my 6p yet on o2 buy I keep checking everyday they keep pestering me to upgrade but don't seem to accept that I want a nexus not a bloody iPhone

My nexus 7 2013 is going strong and that is earmarked to receive marshmallow allomg with the 5 and 6(2014)

Got a v1 nexus 7. Not sure what I'll replace it with.

Currently on a nexus 5, might look at the 5x but other things are sucking the £'s right now :(

Nexus 9 is available quite cheap now

Tbh I only really use my tablet while dropping a duece and the occasional Bluetooth speaker music while decorating etc

I've got a nexus 6 phone and its fantastic. Apart from the duak speakers on the front which are poorly designed so dust etc gets caught in them!

How do you find the camera, as that's what put me off bagging a discounted nexus 6

I don't have an issue with the camera. As good as my note 3 it replaced. Rapid fire too, so point and press and pic is taken. Samsung had to wait a while quite often.

The Wileyfox is based on CyanogenOS - this is a fully Google-approved OS, so will have any inherent flaws you see with Google's empire in it. Sounds like what you want is any old handset with CyanogenMod, which comes without a lot of the core Google apps (which are the ones that always worry people in terms of transparent data collection or whatever). The prices look pretty good though, the Storm model looks similar in spec to my OnePlus One (slower CPU but more cores so may end up being better at multitasking, same amount of RAM, storage is lower but comes with a card slot) but cheaper. I dare say it'll be equally hard to get hold of though with a pre-order system...

Nexus 6 camera is very good and the HDR mode allows for some quality shots

I'm just dipping my toe into Android having been impressed with a mates Nexus 6, so I've gone in at the very cheap end to start with (my Doogee X5 should be here on Wednesday).

If I find I can adjust to moving to Android from Winphone (been on Winphone for 5 years) then I'll probably invest in a Nexus device. I'm already missing my Lumia 1020 since it's death 2 weeks ago thanks to the tarmac outside the chippie when we were on holiday...

Ouch. No case?

1020 still worth a premium on Fleabay.

MS still not noticed so no follow up.

The new Winpho10 leaks look interesting but they've still not caught on that no one is going to pay Apple prices for a Microsoft phone.

No, no case. Outer glass smashed and went into the LCD killing that. Looking about £80 for the parts so not really worth it - gone back to my 820 (which is my dashcam!) for a min...

I've been running the 10 preview on both the 1020 and my work issued 735. Not overly impressed to be honest, it's all pretty changes rather than functional. Plus it thinks it's being helpful putting all the email accounts into Outlook instead of having the separate mailboxes that you could pin to the start. Bit of a step back imo.

I'm probably gonna stick the 1020 up as a spares or repair on eBay, I've had 18 months out of it and as good as the camera was, Win 10 has pushed my mobile os loyalties away. Last time I played properly with an Android phone was 2.2, tablet was 4.4 so hoping it's come on a bit since then! :)

I've had the Nexus 5 for about 20 months now...been a great phone and v happy with it. The new 5X looks nice, but I really don't think I can justify an upgrade. Slightly disappointed that 32GB is the max available size, but I suppose they're wanting people to do the cloud thing.

Personally, I'm not a fan of huge screens (and some phones today are way too big IMHO), so I'm glad they haven't upped the size too much on the new 5X.

Maybe if/when the price drops a bit I'll think about it. Or I suddenly become fabulously wealthy

Likewise, the Nexus 7 my boys have is now rubbish. So so slow, how they manage to use it without complaining to me I don't know!
