Long list of Fabia VRS problems

If it blasted 'Soot' out the tail pipe after booting it, and after it has run around running a bit rich, that is no issue.

If it blasted 'Oil' out of the tail pipe that really is an issue, but highly unlikely.

It has blasted soot a few times, and after you pointed out it was normal so i've payed it no mind.

But as i say there was some liquid on the ground from when i'd revved it at a standstill after a run. I'd driven it for 20 mins beforehand and had also given it a thorough kick up the a**e so it's not like it was build up in the exhaust that just needed me to rev it after it had been stood for a while or had been driven like an old person (i hate that expression, i've seen some old people go pretty fast!).

I'll give it a test again if i get a chance later (at work again). But naturally i'm open to all advise and suggestions to the matter.

  • Apologies Wakey not sure if it's an aftermarket front and what is a PDC?  If it helps it has a white roof and gunmetal grey (almost black) alloys.  I will get some pics uploaded at some point soon.

  • That's ace - cheers for that i'll make sure i do give that a try and as said before i'm now going to start checking daily.    Whilst it is unknown as to what the level was when the light showed - i

If it helps any further, it wasn't a great deal of liquid, probably a bit like if someone spat on the ground, if that.

But still, i'm not sure if it's something i need to be keeping an eye on or just normal once again.

Right then guys update day (which was technically yesterday but i'm on nights so. . . yeh)

Car went in to get the Air con looked at. I'll be brutally honest, i was expecting them to fob me off and say no fault found. But long story short - The condenser unit has failed/is leaking.

So that should be getting sorted under the warranty and i await their call.

So naturally i'm a bit more chipper as that's getting sorted and yesterday was no cost to me.

They did a good clean up of the car for me as well so i took some snaps which i'll upload in a sec.

To make a short story long however. . . (Don't read if you're not too interested in the full story)

The person that was dealing with me at Robert Eardleys was the manager of the service dept (Andy is the only bit as the two people that work on the desks (whom i've had all my previous dealings and as a result, issues with). The two said people had called in sick.

So i've raised my issues with him regarding the previous incidents with them so he'll be having a word with them two.

I have to admit i was really impressed with how he handled everything, and it was actually a worthwhile experience from Skoda for a change!

Baring in mind i went in there asking all sorts of questions as i wasn't prepared to hand my keys over if i wasn't going to get fobbed off again, but he took everything on board, didn't fob me off, did everything he could to help me and even did me a little favour by re-securing my rear number plate as it had come loose on the left hand side. Which i know isn't a lot for them by any stretch of the imagination, but they didn't have to either.

Besides there was absolutely no attitude from him either as there shouldn't be i know, but with the usual 2 there is shed loads of attitude, they seriously need a kick up the arse about customer service.

Anyway it's nice to be typing out a more positive review, naturally i'm not out of the woods just yet and i've still got the oil to monitor but hopefully now making progress.

Oh and when i've checked the exhaust since, there's been no liquid coming out. . . maybe i got my wires crossed somewhere, but it's a relief.

Finally got some snaps of the car so here it is!

Great hearing the good news!! Car looks bang on!! I need to take more of mine, as I have 3 pictures of it. What mods have you done or is it standard?

Thanks fella, yep it's defo an improvement, back to the garage next week thursday to get it sorted!

The front and rear parking sensors aren't stock from what i believe (mentioned earlier in this thread) but i didn't do that.

I've no intention of modding it as it's ample for me and my needs.

Have you modded yours at all or also keeping standard?

Man, I need the black gigaros. Same colour car with black roof and blackpack, got the ones with black on the sides of the spokes and shiny fronts.

As you say, you should have been keeping an eye on your oil level - every day. That way you would know how much oil your engine really is consuming.

And i am afraid this is the reason why i would simply not buy a VRS.... I have far better things to do than complete a multi point check on my car every single day ! If a car needs this, then its not the car for me, life is too short and i am too busy.

To the OP - All the very best, i live near Claybank and have to say, i would not take my car there.

Then you can enjoy the car and the noise and a bit of performance for not much money,

you might need to buy petrol more often but you need not have to suffer the offensive tractor like clatter every time you fire up a Diesel Engine car.

Sorry to hear about all your issues god bomb.

Thought I would just let u know I had a lot of problems with my vrs ending up in a engine change and new clutch pack. I dealt with Robert eardley and tbh mate they are not great to deal with as I ended up getting skoda UK involved. The bloke who works on the service desk named phil is a complete plank and ain't got a clue about the cars. When I had my new engine he told me it didnt need running in and I was ok going out there 100mph as it would not effect the new engine, Which I totally ignored.

The manager you mentioned Andy is ok but just be warned and don't believe everything he says.

Anyway if u want know anything else pm us and good luck with it all

I believe that there are people on this very forum who believe that "Running in" is no longer important and that you should "Give it some welly" straight off the forecourt!

From the sounds of it, the black ones would suit your car well! What colour are yours?

It's each to their own, it's not as bad as it's perhaps to be made out, but yes it's just something to keep an eye on, which could be frustrating for some people, i just need to become a bit more strict and make sure i do keep an eye on it more vigilantly.

Thanks for the well wish though and no i wouldn't recommend anyone to Claybank now, but lesson learned i guess.

Thanks a lot, if i think of any questions i have then i'll give you a PM. To be fair i don't think anything much of either Phil or Alex, they aren't particularly helpful and i find their attitudes really poor whenever i've spoke to them. I've not really had to pick their brains on knowledge, but then again i don't think i would of done either for the reasons you have stated.

Andy was just a refreshing change to what i had dealt with, especially when compared to them and he was very helpful on the day. But thanks for the heads up about him and if i have to deal with him again in the future then i'll be mindful (although i typically am anyway).

That is nothing short of terrifying to be honest. . . i wonder how many people who weren't in the know have had their engines ruined by this shoddy advice?

I've said it before and i'll say it again, i really am disappointed in Skoda for this type of approach/behaviour to everything.

This is why i came to Skoda in the first place, to avoid this kind of treatment etc.

Serves me right for not doing my homework seeing all the information that was in here, however on the plus side, i'm now a part of this awesome forum and my problems could be significantly worse (Hopefully i'm not tempting fate by saying all this).  :x

I'm thinking of wrapping the roof black to match the black grill and the window frames. Plasti dipping the 'skoda fabia vrs' on the back and on the front bumper in black too with the gloss finish. Colour code the front am rear badges so it's the same colour of the car. That's about it really. And that won't be until at least summer time when I've got my 10 week sabbatical and im back from a month in Thailand. But from now until then I might just scrap all that and keep it as it is. It's definitely going to get a good clay and wax as soon as winter has gone.

I really like the blue colour you have, I'd be torn between the blue and the grey I have if I had a choice.
