octavia 5E oil filter location

Featured Replies

hey guys

Greetings from the Rep of Ireland

Im the proud owner of a 2014 1.6 TDI Octavia combi , I do huge miles so change the engine oil every 10k KM/ 6k Miles usually by vacuum through the dipstick pipe, I leave the main servicing to the skoda garage. However , this time I want to change the oil filter also but I cant find it on the engine . It does not appear to be on the topside of the engine in any of the usually places. Would anyone have an idea as to where it is?? Have VW changed the design of their engines and the oil filter is now underneeth??

Thanks in advance

keep up the great work with the site

On my vRS the oil filter is located at the front of the engine left side by engine cover, its in a black filter housing of some sort with a oil filter housing plug/bolt on the top!

this is how it looks on my vRS Tsi

The image is not of a skoda but just to show what the housing looks like

but for the diesel I'm not sure if it is in the same location or underneath, hopefully someone might be able to point you in the right direction

Hi!

Where did you get the workshop manual from? I have seen a few different ones, but would be glad if someone could recommend one.
Thanks!

Not keen on vacuuming via the dipstick.  I always use the drain plug and give it plenty of time to stop dripping.  You can always find something else to tinker with while waiting, like cleaning or shaking the mats:)
