Buying a used Fabia Monte Carlo

Featured Replies

I don't know if I will buy the fabia that I posted yesterday, because I heard it was broken. Apparently it was flipped over the door to the top and again on a door. You can see on one photo that the roof is black, but fabias from 2011 apparently didn't have an option to have a black roof (only monte carlo had this), so it was repainted and repaired. Now it it selling like never dameged and 1st owner, but in reality it is second, lol.

So now I got an eye on another one, this one is a monte carlo from 4/2011 with 97k km, still 1.2TSI with 86HP. Is it safe to buy a car with so many km, petrol ? The car was regulary serviced at an skoda service. Here are some photos:

The car was first a test car of skoda and than one ma bought it. 2nd owner. Looks like new.

I guess if it has done that many Kms already it should still do plenty more!

Wouldn't like to own a car that had been rolled over myself, good luck with your new car, looks great.

As long as it has been serviced regularly and well I wouldn't have thought there would be any problems with it. Good luck with it and hope you enjoy it.

100,000km is only 60,000mile.

Its only just run in..

Sorry if I wrote strange, but I still didn't buy anything. Don't know what to buy or not buy :/

I think the general consensus is you should avoid the crashed car and get the Monte Carlo. It should be perfectly fine as long as it has been serviced.

Yeah, I will avoid it, because the reseller is inventing new things every day.

Example: "he doesn't know if the car was crashed, because if it was, the roof would be repainted. I tell him, BUT IT IS, lol. The original color was white ad now it is black. And than he tells me, yeah, the owner bought the car and than immediately repainted it to black, because the white colour was gay."

For how much kilometers are this engines designed ? And turbo ? It has been serviced on official porsche dealer, chain was replaced, ecu reprogrammed etc.

'Gay'. The mother of all technical terms.

He might well of repainted the roof because he didnt like the white. Who knows, but if you arent happy with it, dont buy it.

The car was surely in an accident, because some friends know the original owner, and it's hard to believe everything he says, if you know half of the things aren't true.

Ah right okay.

Yeah youre right there. If hes lying about that, what else is he lying about.

Best thing to do is walk away (:

Is the Monte for sale at the Porsche garage?

If it is they have a certain reputation to uphold, should be Ok,would they offer any guarantee ?

My old but reliable 2000 petrol Fabia has many more Kms but starts and runs perfectly and doesn't have a very good service record.

Think that's a safe bet for you compared to the first option.

Good luck whatever you decide.

The bit that puts doubt in many peoples minds is the turbo part of TSI i think.

By nature, forced induction engines are more complicated and under more stress than a NA engine.

Ive no doubt a well looked after one would see well over 100k miles though tbh.

Looks nice mate.

How did you get on? (:

In France a vehicle needs its first test after 4 years.I took our new to us 2011 Monte 1.6 TDI for its first test this morning. It only has 28k Kms,passed fine with just an advisory, tracking LH front wheel, sounds familiar!!

tester was very impressed with condition and build quality.

We are impressed with every aspect, will be a keeper,so much info on here will give the 75bhp a kick up the butt in the future but for the moment a smashing little car!!

Very familiar mate.

Does your car pull to the left?

I understand you obviously drive on the right... So it would be interesting to hear if it still pulls left.

The car is good, I drive it to a mechanic, they checked everything, all ok, besides the tires are just in limit to be legal, and optics are not perfect.

What's with this pulling to the left ? The mechanic checked the optics of the tires, and the left are not the safe as the right. Is this a factory problem ?

Good good!

The fact is with the pulling to the left, i dont think anybody really knows mate. Its a car geometry problem which only occurs on montes and some VRS (which indicates wheel size, right?) but many struggle to fix and dealers try to cover it up with un-directional tyres. How that helps im not sure, but it cant be a fix, just a cover up.

So I will get a car with a big problem, noone can fix ? :|

If you speak to UK dealers, but theyre generally uninterested and useless.

Do a search and read the threads.

I cant speak too much because ive never suffered the issue. My car goes straight as anything

So if you put winter tires on you don't get this ?

Best off reading the threads and asking people personally mate.

Or starting a thread of your own to ask.

The mechanic that checked the optics told me it's not a big problem, just 0.5 to the left I think, but that I should do it anyway when I mount new tyres on. I hope it will be ok, if not I still have 2 months of factory warranty.

Wouldn't say it pulls to the left, just steering wheel is slightly off straight ahead when running on a flat road.He marked as advisory but not urgent but said" have tracking done" in French of course and showed me slight feathering on front left tyre.

Andrea has to go to Euromaster today anyway to pick up a trailer tyre for me so be interesting to see what they say.

Skynetz, not trying to hijack your thread. but think the result can be interesting to you as well.
