What is needed for OEM Bluetooth

Featured Replies

Hi, firstly apologies if this has been covered. I have been searching the forum all morning and can't find any simple explanations as to what I need.

I have a FL Octavia, with Columbus/Maxidot/MFSW. I want to retrofit OEM bluetooth, as my Parrot has been pretty terrible since I installed it earlier this year.

I assume I would need a bluetooth module/microphone/wiring harness? What I would like to know is what exactly I need to buy as I can't find a straight answer here or anywhere.

I'd suggest a kit such as this: http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-3c8035730e-with-wi-fi-hot-spot-newest-version,id1728.html

It comes with all the wiring required and the most featured module that's available for your car, you should be able to find it a little cheaper elsewhere but I'd expect it to come in somewhere between £100 and £150. It might need coding afterwards but that's a five minute job for anyone that is local and has VCDS.

Thanks for the info, most helpful.

Will this work completely with the Columbus and Maxidot?

I assume all I will need to do it find space for the wiring and mount the microphone somewhere?

If it is coded correctly it should, the only possible issue is that if your maxidot has older software you might be missing some icons - this doesn't affect the functionally at all.

The microphone slots into a space in the front interior light cluster and the wire can easily be routed around the headliner, down the A pillar and towards the headunit. Getting the new quadlock loom in can be quite a challenge, it took me some time with the odd swear word but other people have cut out sections of the plastic cage to allow more space. I would definitely recommend you remove the storage box on the dash when you attempt to fit it!

The stock location for the BT module is under the front passenger seat but other people have hidden it behind the glovebox or climatic control panel to remove the need to get wires to under the seat.

There is some useful info here too: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/264135-installation-guide-oem-bluetooth/

I mounted mu BT unit behind the glovebox, there's a "perfect interference fit" space for it. The quadlock can be a pain, but I found it easy to by removing the white and black (or green and blue, depending on setup) connectors, then slide the big black bit sideways round the back of the cage then reconnect thetwo connectors. Fitting the replacement section is the reverse. The excess cable and quadlocks can be tucked inside the dash between the cage and the side where the glovebox goes. Have got some bits to do at the weekend, so hopefully I'll try and grab some pics. :)

I have an iphone if it makes any difference.

If I remember correctly the d and e have WiFi where as the c doesn't. This only applies if the phone used supports rsap.
