Pre-FL MFSW Button options

Featured Replies

On the Golf mk5 multi function steering wheel, there are 2 options for buttons.

One set controls just the audio, and the later set can control the MFD rather than just using the stalk.

I know there is the option to swap out the button set on the left side on the wheel of the Octavia so you can answer the phone, but is there an OK and menu button setup? Can it be made to work any how?

I'm guessing the Golf button set won't fit the Octavia wheel?

I know the entire Golf wheel can be fitted and coded, but I like the 4 spoke design.

I think there are only the three options, ie the two that you have or the phone option on left hand side. I looked quite extensively when I replaced my left hand buttons with the phone option.

Also as far as I am aware, if you fit a newer wheel those controls that replace the stalk don't work properly anyway.

Maybe there are alternatives on the older Superb mk1 mfsw? I know cruise control was on some of those wheels for example.

Just to bring this back up, is there any way to re-code the car so that the buttons on a pre-fl MFSW can control the MFA instead of using the stalk?

I don't really want to fit a mk5 wheel, but changing what the buttons do on my existing wheel would be very handy.

Could you trick the car into thinking that a mk5 post 06 wheel with its button configuration was fitted?

There is a way you can trick the mute button to do something else (can't quite remember what). As I recall it's the 4th byte (byte 3) in the short coding on the pre fl steering module - changing it from 2 to 3 or vice versa. Given that's possible there may be other trickery you can do also.
