Mine are Team Heko from eBay. Cost about 30 quid for all four. Cheap but far from tacky!

thanks bud

I'm using clim air... 10 years since the first set was bought and still going strong!

Can someone tell me why we install these? Here in New Zealand many used imported cars from Japan have them on (and they are the first thing we take off). Are they so you can smoke and have the window down a fraction in the rain?

It means you can have a bit of fresh air in the cabin when driving without buffeting or, when it's wet, rain coming in. Also useful when starting up in damp or cold conditions for clearing the windows a bit quicker if the re circulation button is causing an initial 'fog' on the windows. In summer it's useful if you want some air in the cabin but want to lock the car as you can open the windows 10mm and no-one can see that they are open.

In Japan and other parts of SEAsia they are, as you say, very popular for practical and tuning reasons. It's an aesthetic they like in the same way that many slap on a stupid and (often) useless rear spoiler or tea tray to their humble saloon or hatch. Horses for courses and all that...

As a footnote If everyone takes them off in NZ send them my way as there is a big (and stupidly expensive) market for them here in parts of Europe ;)

£29 off fleabay, really good, ventilation in rainy weather no worries

I can't live without them too. They are very popular in Norway :-)

Good for venting without getting snow or water inside the car. It also gives the car a more aggressive look :)

HI LASSE. bought climair 2 days ago and very disappointed with the quality.   unless yours are of good quality since they are 10 years old.   will keep looking

Here you go. Having opened up the packaging and checked these are indeed Hako but, for me, are a very good quality as supplied to VAG directly under licence I believe.

As I said, purchased from Superskoda (link in above post) and very pleased (also fitted the winter grill which I will post photos of later).

Photos of the fitting and finished product in place are in the shared dropbox link below:

Points to consider:

  1. The front and rear units came with small stainless 'clips' that push fit into the window channels. I only used these on the rear units. The front units are a very snug fit and I felt didn't need them.
  2. You need to make sure that the window clears the plastic trim when in operation otherwise the child-safety kicks in when you auto lock via the key fob and the windows drops to half way. Not an issue (and impressed with the sensitivity of the mechanism...) but you just have to hold up the window button on the door to close if it does catch. An easy adjustment to fix (push the units in more...).
  3. There is a slight wind noise when driving. I've had the Climair units on other cars and they are just the same noise wise but not as good a quality IMHO.
  4. Quality wise these Hako units are much smarter in my opinion and seem to be moulded from a thicker acrylic.

Bottom line...They look smart and I'm pleased with the quality and fit.

Thank you SIR.........You is a Star *****

Im well chuffed with mine from supaskoda and they are heko and have a very good quality feel to them, the only snag I have is that when I fold in the electric mirrors they just catch right at the end of operation so ive just put a small piece of tape there to stop the paint on the mirror being damaged.

I will probably sort it out properly with a dremmel or sand paper....but would recommend them to anyone as they look very smart......

Ooh. Have not checked the fit with mirrors folded....have not noticed anything but must do so. Thanks for that tip :)

Climair handles the mirror fold in very good on my 14 FL. I'm gonna take some pictures one day :)

Have just checked mine this morning - no problems at all.

Mine do have specific 'cut outs' which allow the folding mirrors to do so without interference.

I wonder if this was a new Design of the HAKO unit?

Still have the white heko engraving unfortunately.
