Fiesta ST

Featured Replies

This could be a goodbye post, well at least from a Fabia anyway. Had a trade in today of a Fiesta ST2 sold straight away but had the chance to drive it. What an amazing piece of kit.

Got straight onto the guys in sales to ask if they can do me any favours by ringing the ford sales manager. Hope something comes of it as I only did 5 miles but absolutely loved it !

If anyone has owned one and has any info good or bad please post, it was spirit blue too ! Gutted it sold so quick.

Amazing cars, far better handling than any Skoda.

Ride a bit firm, but other than that they are very good.

Had mine a year and a half and loved it.

If you get one the Mountune upgrade makes a lot of sense.

More fun that a lot of far more expensive cars.

I remember seeing yours for sale gutted I didn't go for it then, I'm either going to get a mountune for warranty or get my current bluefin enabled for the ST not sure yet but when I drove it, it seemed quick enough for now anyway.

Just so much more alert and more of a drivers car than my Fabia by a huge margin!

Best front wheel drive hot hatch I've driven for that money or a significant amount more.

Still can't believe how well they go round corners.

Only sold mine as I have something else coming, otherwise I'd never have parted with it!

Still the car motoring magazines compare and benchmark others too, despite it having been on sale for over 2 years, which tells you something.

I had an ST3 and apart from paint and a steering issue the actual car is awesome, so capable and just sticks like its running on rails. My main issue was the local main dealer are total ass......led they ruined my car big style.

Did 2,500 miles and smiled for most of it, ironically it wasn't much more economical than my current car, as it encourages you to press on within the NSL's ;)

Excuse the pun but it is a very focused car, it really does encourage you to drive it and the ride can be very firm, the seats are so snug and hold you tight...I'm also getting a bit older and it may be perceived as a younger persons car. Find I can go very quick in my Golf but generally it seems to encourage steady driving the exact opposite of the ST IMO.

All I've heard is good reviews about this car, got a few offers already but nothing really good. Spoken to my Dad which was a bad idea as he actually talked sense to me. It's a house or a Fiesta ST. As much as I'd love the fiesta unless the deal is ridiculously cheap the car idea is going to be set back a year or two. Absolutely gutted.

Depends on your budget, there are some fairly cheap couple of year old ST's.

I only paid a bit over £17k for a pre reg 2015 ST 3 with delivery miles, plus spare wheel, style pack and rear parking sensors, in Molten Orange, back in March/April!

Have any of you driven a cliosport? how does the handling compare? Its about the most capable fwd hot hatch i have driven (purely handling)

I do like the new Fiesta ST even though the grill looks like they stole it from Aston Martin. I know everyone raves about the handling so just wonder

how it compares to cliosport. Does it corner flat and **** the rear unloaded wheel off the floor?

If you are pressing on enough, yes.

While still within the car's limits.

The mk2 Cliosport is a very good drive, the later ones not so much

Yeah its the mk1 & mk2 cliosport Im talking about and the Williams prior. I haven't been in the later models but they looked a bit bigger and I expected that to be at the expense of the handling which was almost perfect to my mind. Anyway is the Fiesta ST close or better?

I've been looking at Clio sports 172,182's love the trophy they are holding their money quite well too but with the Fiesta it's cheaper to make quicker but then again buying a 172 even a mint one would only cost £3,000 a couple for sale around me. Quick toy maybe if the ST is off the cards because of the house.

I had a Clio 172 Cup

Of my 57 cars, it was by far the best handling car I've ever had.

Also one of the thirstiest though.

Still loved driving it, was a real hoot

I do love the new fiesta's though, my missus has a 1.5 TD, and its really nice to drive.

I'd love her to get an ST, but its not really practical for her as its her driving school car :D

The newer ones IMO went to big and became a bit of a fat lazy cat. I've driven but not both back to back, and from what I remember it was a very very close call between them, I'd go for Clio if it were me (big fan of French cars) also they're cheap :P. That's just a rough view as I didn't take ST far, where as the 172 I did. Certainly be a 172 next for me once I've finished arseing about with older bigger cars

I've driven the Mk2 Cliosport and Fiesta ST.

Which handles better? Would be quicker around a tight track, etc, etc hard to say and subjective.

But the Fiesta feels better on the road, turn in bite, steering feel, balance, adjust-ability and damping all feel superior on the Fiesta.

And the Fiesta feels better built.

If Ford did a 5 door ST Fiesta it would be parked on my drive.

Sounds like a good endorsement. Thanks

Strange that Ford do a five-door ST in the States, but not Europe. The demand must surely be out there.

Same with the new 140PS 1.0 Ecoboost. available in 3 door only.

Yep I think they could easily sell the 5 door here

I believe the 5 door ST is made in Mexico, or somewhere over there.

Europe don't want it for fear it'll harm Focus ST sales.

IMO it's a better fun car.

5 doors must reduce the rigidity of the body somewhat.

Maybe true but by how much really?, if you were to measure movement of the Panel Gap around the rear doors under cornering,

but then it is a not very heavy small family car with under 200 hp,. and rear doors help people get in the rear.

Ford seem to be OK with 5 Doors on the 2016 Ford Focus RS.

Do Ford US sell customers in their home market vehicles less good than they sell in the UK/ EU?

(less rigid or less capable, or is it they do not want to take sales from the Focus ST 5 Door!

As George said, there won't be a huge difference in rigidity.

Loads of high power 4 and 5 door cars about like the Scoob and Evo that were made ages ago with older chassis tech.

It's more to do with all Focus ST and RS now being 5 door and all Fiesta ST being 3.

Keeps the markets separate IMO.

  • 3 weeks later...

Great to drive, really really uncomfortable seats and a very hard ride.

I enjoyed mine but would not have another.
