Skoda Insurance - Any Views?

Featured Replies

I purchased my brand new Citigo Black Edition last year. I was offered Skoda Insurance. It came out a little more expensive than most well known insurers, but the price was brought down a little to fall in line with other quotes I had, so I went with it.

My renewal has come through £30+ this year!

I've had a general search on other quotes elsewhere, and (what you'd like to think of as reputable insurers/if there is such a thing) they are offering cheaper prices in some cases to what I paid last year with Skoda. I contacted Skoda to discuss my renewal - see if there was any leeway on the offered price - and nothing! :'( I persisted, but no joy. Not overly happy. I'd like to stay loyal to the Skoda brand, and you'd think they'd want that too, but it appears as though I might have to go elsewhere this year.

Has anyone any views on Skoda insurance? Is it really worth it?

I assume that 'Skoda Car Insurance' is actually provided by an external broker or insurance company and not by Skoda? Your policy document may show who?

I think... Allianz insurance if I'm reading it correctly.

You could try phoning Allianz direct.

I wouldn't ever bother being loyal to any insurance company. They will never be loyal to you even if you think they are. They start with a high price, ask you if you have any lower quotes and then lower their price to just below that. So why not offer it for less? Because they see you purely as a tap that spits out coins, that's all.

In this case Skoda Insurance wouldn't budge at all - even after I'd had other quotes that were cheaper. The loyalty I wanted to keep was for the Skoda brand, but though the thought of only having Skoda parts being fitted in the event of an accident is preferable, I don't think I can warrant spending extra money needlessly - especially after they wouldn't compromise in any way on the price - not even a penny. Some of the prices I've found elsewhere are cheaper than I paid with Skoda last year, let alone my new renewal.

Have you tried Briskoda Insurance?

Don't use Skoda Insurance

A friend bought her Citigo New and was persuaded to take it out as she thought it was through Skoda. In fact it was underwritten by Allianz.

Unfortunately she had an accident and what a nightmare it was to get everything sorted

She had to arrange her own loan car and arrange everything with the approved repairer as Allianz said they would sort it but nothing got done.

Also it took over 7 weeks before the car was repaired.

She has now gone back to her old insurance company after her premium doubled on renewal. (The accident was not her fault)

Unfortunately you don't know how good or bad an insurance company is till you have to use them

Hi,

Have you tried us for insurance yet? If so how did we do?

Anyone else used Skoda car insurance since this last post in 2015 and able to comment on the level of service provided following a claim?

I'm considering them as an option having discovered that most (yes, even premium companies) DO NOT provide a courtesy car if your car is stolen or is deemed a total loss.  Only companies that do provide this cover (as far I can can see from a comparison website with 75 quotes) are Skoda, M&S premium (£260 including breakdown) and....(surprisingly)... Post-Office Money (Premium) (£198).  The quote for Skoda was £220, compared to £290 for my current John Lewis renewal quote (which I now discover doesn't cover me if the car is stolen, etc.).

Did you try ourselves for insurance at all?
