I recently bought a Skoda service plan that gets me 1 x MOT, 1 minor service and 1 x major service.

The car was serviced yesterday at 38,000 miles and 48 months old. Which service should it have got, major or minor? I've looked at the service manual and it doesn't help me.

What parts did it get Yesterday, other than just Oil & Oil Filter,   was it a new Pollen Filter, Air Filter, Anything else?

 

If it was done fixed from new @ 9,400 (10,000) miles / Annual it would be.

12 months Minor

24 months Major   (Pollen Filter)

36 months Minor  / Brake Fluid Change / MOT

48 months Major.  (Pollen Filter)

Previous services (fixed) were at 12 month intervals at the same Skoda dealer, average mileage of 9000 per annum.

The service booklet shows that yesterday it got engine oil, fuel filter, air filter and pollen filter. The invoice says 'minor service' but I would have expected a major.

There is no difference apart from.  'As required for replacement' at the Major Service.  

so you got the Pollen & Airfilter changed.

(or open the Air Box and see if it is changed, and not just showing on the invoice as having been.)

If they called it a 'Minor Service' this year, just remind them it is a 'Major Service' next year and ask

what extra they are going to be doing.

Aircon Check/  Wheels off, or anything.  Amazing that suspension is not checked at a Minor Service,

if they are doing a 'Health Check'.

There are no components or consumables listed, only 'minor service'.

Just ask the Dealership in writing to confirm in writing what was done to your Vehicle when the 

Manufacturers Service Schedule had it due for a Major / Inspection Service.

I would ask why a Major Service was not carried out if due.

 

Did you get a copy of the Report that they did when checking, or is it just a Service Book Page Ticked.

Is the Body Condition Inspection Page filled in?

How old is it ? Pre 2009 cars should have a cambelt every 4years and post 2009 every 5. (This is for all engines as far as I know

Just had my 4 year old 30,000 mile VRS serviced, it's on the annual service regime.

Major service including pollen filter, & spark plugs (as 4 years old ) £259 Skoda fixed price

Brake fluid replaced £45

2nd MOT £39

You got a good deal.

The Skoda / VW Service Regime is not at 4 Years for the Spark Plugs on a Twincharger, or at 30,000 miles.

& the Major Service @ £259 does not usually Include changing the Spark Plugs on a 1.4 TSI Twincharger.

 

Skoda Dealerships usually Quote £259 which includes the Air Filter & Pollen Filter,

plus £109 for Supplying and Changing Spark Plugs.

VW Dealers do a Major Service on a Twincharger including supplying and changing the Spark Plugs for £299.

What Spark Plugs part numbers do they have on the Invoice for the ones they fitted ?

So someome doing 19,000 miles a Year might pay for Major, Major, Major.

 

& someone on Variable and doing low annual mileage (Below Average) 

might still be paying Minor, Major, Minor etc.

 

Problem is 'Dealership Service Desks' and the Skoda UK System that says what your car might need as Servicing,

it is Hit or Miss.

Funny, because these people do this job 5-6 days a week all on Skodas or VW, Seat, Audis at Official Dealerships.

I got my spark plugs changed with a major service for £259

They are getting generous. Or just doing what they should have done all along

Because the time to do a Major service and the parts without doing plugs was a rip off at £259.

Maybe Just giving there customers something bk!!!!

My 1.2 Tsi had its second service today, cost was £169. This was oil, oil filter and pollen filter and inspection. Also washed and vacuumed, made a nice job of it too. Full bottle of VW screen wash in boot also

It's booked in for replacement of both front lower wishbones and wheel alignment next week as it creaks and knocks etc at low speed maneuvering. Had a few in lately for same reason apparently.

Asked about plugs and air filter and told they are changed at 4 years service.
