Yeti+Adblue = lack of storage

Featured Replies

The non Adblue yeti has storage for the Towball, Compressor and other bits and bobs, But if you have the Diesel Adblue you will be left with no storage for these items, i asked the salesman when picking up my new Yeti where do these items live and he suggested either putting the compressor and bottle of tyre sealant in the glove box on the dash or paying nearly £200 for the raised boot floor with storage underneath.

Other than that its a case of leave it in the boot to roll around or leave it at home lol I am amazed that Skoda have not made room for this or for that matter given you a free storage option under the drivers seat for these items, I was due to have a detachable towbar fitted but now forced to have the fixed option due to lack of space, The only saving grace is the fact the fixed towbar is £100 or so less than the detachable.

Where do other people put there bits and bobs ?

  • This would be my question too. Is the spare not even an option now? That would be...odd on an off-roader.

  • Perhaps Skoda's 'simply clever' strap line is now redundant! Assuming it's too big to go in the under passenger seat drawer, they could at least have put them in a bag with Velcro on it so it stays p

  • If you have the spare wheel yes you are going to have lots of storage, If on the other hand you don't have the false floor your stuffed lol. I Tow a heavy ish caravan so if they make the New yeti lig

Can you still order the storage drawer underneath the front passenger seat? I know this was available as a factory fit option on some models, and as a dealer supplied part/s to order. I would imagine they would also fit it.

Colin

I would not want the removable tow ball inside the passenger compartment!!! Much too heavy and therefore dangerous.

Don't the new models come with a pocket either side of the boot, by the hatch, and a set of nets?

.

Does this mean the Adblu tank also takes the spare tyre space up??

No, the manual shows this.

Ironically I had just downloaded the same manual and was reading it :)

Thanks

So which storage has the OP lost as the manual shows the storage unit image 2 that would hold the compressor etc in a non spare wheeled vehicle is on top of the Adblu filler cap?

On the 4x4 there was a box, called a battery box, under the floor in that position, and that has presumably now been replaced by the Ad-blue tank.

Inside the spare wheel or the storage space the other side.

The pictures are from a vihicle that has a spare wheel as an option, if you dont opt for a spare wheel you dont get the storage box, which to me is a bit odd as you still need to put the compressor bottle of sealant and if you have one the towball.

Cars that dont have Adblue have a stowage area where the Adblue tank would have been with area's cut out for the Compressor bottle of sealant and towball. it almost seems as though they have not thought things out properly. If i opt for a spare wheel i get the storage box and raised boot floor at the extra cost of £150 or i can opt for raised boot floor with storage and no spare wheel at the extra cost of £190 very odd, Even the salesman said its something Skoda has not yet thought about.

As for the little shelves that are in the sides of the boot, They are not big enough to hold everything and as for putting everything in the stowage nets well i dont know about you and i am not OCD but i hate clutter.

The drawer that goes under the seat is not big enough to take the compressor and sealant either. What they should have done is given the raised boot floor and storage free on Diesel models with Adblue.

I agree that they have not thought the Adblue models out, particularly if you don't have the optional spare and raised floor.

My compressor was just left loose in the boot. What I have done though is wrap some of that non-slip material around it and secured it with the straps in the left-hand boot pocket. It sits on top of the plastic divider which isn't ideal, but you have the space under it for storing other things and at least it is clear of the boot floor.

One thing they did supply was a crappy piece of plastic that clips to the right-hand side of the boot and forms a semi-circle and is supposed to be used for securing small items. That was immediately put in the garage and narrowly missed being thrown in the rubbish bin!

I may get the spare at some point but don't really want to lose the space by raising the boot floor. I'm going to get a removable tow-bar soon but will probably keep that in the garage.

I know what you mean about the crappy basket kind of thing in the boot, also did you get the little zipped bag? i thought i might have been for the compressor at first but that wont fit.

I did think about buying the spare wheel but then you are carrying around extra weight which is not needed as you have the compressor and if the ditch the compressor for the spare then you wont need the storage that you bought the spare wheel for in the first place lol.

I think i will look for one of those boot tidy things, Not ideal but better than nothing i guess as for the towbar the fixed option just saves hassle getting it on and off, finding somewhere to store it and the fixed option may save by rear bumper from behing bumped in a car park.

Assuming it's too big to go in the under passenger seat drawer, they could at least have put them in a bag with Velcro on it so it stays put in the boot. This would REALLY irritate me! My OCD means nothing permanently visible in the boot. The boot is for luggage!

Hey Falmouthboy i see we are not too far from one another Helston here.

Yes the boot is for luggage not clutter.

It seems to be the Yeti is in a bit of a limbo land with Skoda applying various "fixes" on the current models to keep them legal until the new models appear which I would hope will be properly designed to resolve the issues being experienced by owners, not the least of which is making the EGR valve much more accessible.

Its a long wait as i believe the new yeti is not due until 2018 lets hope they don't make it too light as they have done with other models.

Calm down....Calm down....

My Yeti has the adblue tank and the spare wheel fitted. No problems.

There's so much storage space under the floor and in the side storage pockets that I can store all my " Stuff " and not see any of it.

Am I experiencing any issues? No. But then I'm not OCD. :notme:

I would have issues if they make the eventual " New " Yeti larger and heavier.

I Tow a heavy ish caravan so if they make the New yeti lighter i will be forced to look elsewhere in 2018 but hey thats a long way off yet.

Looks like the 2016 new " bigger" up to 7 seat Yeti might be OK for you then yetiMC ( must be a bit heavier?)

I suspect the "new" 2018 compact Yeti will not only be lighter but have smaller engines as well, like most other manufacturers now.

I'll be forced to look elsewhere as well.

Now a 1.4 TSI  GTE electric hybrid Yeti...

This also does away with the need to work out where to store the Adblue bottle :D

haha Electric Hybrid Yeti, thats an idea anything like the GTE Golf and it will be very expensive.

Yes, the compressor was in it!

My wife says I'm OCD but I think I just like things to be tidy. I bought a cheap fold down plastic box which stays in the boot for carrying small/loose stuff around when required (good for beer!) and a couple of pieces of that non-slip material to stop other stuff sliding around. The supplied net is still in it' s plastic bag.

Those moveable hooks are useful though and I use them quite a bit.

Probably a bit strong I know but I've said elsewhere that this latest version of the Yeti is a bit of a bodge because of how they have accommodated the Adblue etc.

But any criticism is being a bit pedantic really as it is till a very practical and enjoyable car to own. Any shortcomings are not the end of the world and there are ways round.
