Forth Road Bridge, Lane Closure & Expected Delays.

Featured Replies

Hope it's fixed by the time we go to Knockhill in August. :D  Kincardine bridge is always busy.

Use the newer Clackmannanshire bridge...as long as it's not past it's sell by date when you get there.  :D

Just a small point.

The 'Forth Bridge' is a bridge for Trains, no need to call it the Forth Railway Bridge.

The Forth Road Bridge which is closed is called the 'Forth Road Bridge.'

The new, 'Queensferry Crossing'  is the 'New Replacement Road and Pedestrian Bridge across the Forth,

and not a Ferry Crossing between Fife and South Queensferry,  where there used to be a Ferry Crossing.

The bridge doesn't seem to have been built with servicing in mind. The long span cables can't be repaired which was the main reason for the predicted slow reduciton in capacity the bridge could take. The steel cables are rusting and breaking.

The new bridges will have replaceable cables.

The does look like the beginning of the end for the old bridge.

I did think when they were building the new one it should have been a double deckers to cope with more load in the future.

Bridge opens tomorrow (23rd) at 6am to cars / light goods (all vehicles), but not to HGV's.

Wonder if there was a wee first minister screaming down the phone at them to get it open sooner?

It's pinned apparently. Sounds like a duck tape and cable tie solution. Still, there is nothing you can't fix with that.

The Holy Trinity of engineering

Cable ties, duck tape, WD40 and silicon sealant.

Coz enginerrs do math reely gud
