disc size?

Featured Replies

on a skoda fabia 1.2 12v 2010, what is the disc size or where can I find out.

car part website giving me choice of too many different discs.

To be sure, to be sure,

of the car you want the replacement discs for,

remove the wheel and measure the discs.

Reason being, the previous owner or someone might have fitted something different from the car that left the factory.

If the calipers say FSII on them, your discs will be 239mm, if they say FSIII they are 256mm.

Info from here.

I couldn't tell you even if you gave me the reg! I took mine to Motorscope to get some EBC discs and pads that were the same and gave them the reg of my car and he got 2 different sizes for the discs and 2 different shapes for the pads. So my advice is to measure them.

I think its 239 on the HTP.

As above though. Best to measure.

Thanks, cars at me dad so I will have to tell him to measure, why do they not just have one size, if standard, I don't need to be confused anymore.

Generally its just the HTP that gets the smaller discs, and the TSI's (not sure about the 86 actually) and TDI's get the bigger discs.

Have you ever had 14 inch wheels on your car?

I ask, because 14's will only fit n cars with 239 discs (:

Honestly, the markings on the brake caliper are all you need to see, and depending on wheel type probably visible with no disassembly.

Here's a random pic off google of an FSIII caliper:

The markings aren't subtle or hard to find.

My Polo has 256mm discs, FSIII brakes under 14" steels, so I'm surprised to hear that only 239s will fit...

Could be wrong on that mate. I didnt think 14's would fit over the bigger brakes.. But if they do on a polo then youd have thought they would on a fab.

You can quite clearly see the difference in disc size if you see 2 cars next to eachother though.

just gotten car think its standard will ask dad to check, not today though hes gone to watch football match

think the wheels are 15inch

Are the discs and pads really ready for replacement?

You are as well to check the wheel nuts (Bolts) for tightness and to see that you can get a wheel changed if required,

and set the tyres pressures.

Read the Tyre size on the sidewall while down putting air in or letting air out of the tyres.

?

Why not nip out, whip off a wheel, take a picture and post it?

(that will be 'changing a wheel practice' and kill 2 birds with one stone,  you can check the Brake Pads while you have the wheel off.)
