Fabia 1.2 tsi 90 Coolant level

Featured Replies

Just checked car today - cold and hot after a journey - checked just after a few miles on motorway.

Cold - just on, or marginally above, the Min mark.

Hot - half way between Min and Max - i.e. behind the seam on the tank.

Car was topped up by dealer about 3 weeks ago - to a point about an inch (or more) above Max mark - engine was hot.

Will explore the venting more closely during daylight.

I will be keeping a close eye on coolant though.

Never noticed this kind of variation on cars previously.. but it does look like it vents off and finds its own level - which just happens to be lower than most of us are used to.

To be continued ......  !!

Hi Dithane my old Mki estate ran at the same level yours is at the moment for most of the 8 yes I owned it. I would say the garage way overfilled the expansion bottle if it was over the Max mark. Hopefully it will stick at its present level. As you say watch this space Joex

Since last Monday I've done roughly 400 mile including round trips of 230 miles and 115 miles. The cars fine now, the water had risen during a journey and when cool it was on the upper mark. I did start to take photos but it's been ok.  Bit strange and I'll be keeping an eye on it.  I like the car but wish I could have had the steering wheel radio controls without having to have more power and fancier alloys.

One thing about having steering wheel controls, when different models/marques move things about it becomes a bit silly when you drive three family cars regularly, daughter's late 2009 Ibiza has an "add on near the steering wheel" set of media controls, that works well and with regular sized hands, I can drive and change volume/stations easily, my early 2011 Audi S4, I think, has the radio controls on the RHS of the steering wheel, wife's new Polo 6R 6C seems to have the radio controls on the LHS of the steering wheel, which I find a bit tricky to find most of the time - so just use the radio mounted controls!

Yeah it's no big deal, just got used to them in the Kia but didn't use them all the time. The radio is forward facing, not slanted at all, and my wife has shortish ams so a lot better for her on the wheel.
