tfsi temp sensor and interior light issues

Featured Replies

Not related I know.

Does the temp sensor on the tfsi have the same adverse effects on the car if it's faulty the same as the 1.8t does? Mine never gets to 90 and sits between 60-70 all the while and seems to use a fair bit of fuel as of late.

Anyone know off hand what fuse is for the interior lights? Mine don't work on the switches or when the doors are open all of a sudden.

No one?

Hi, yes the temp guage going all over the place except where it's supposed to seems to be a feature of the TFSi engine in the mk2 vRS.  I have the same thing, on long journeys it rarely gets above 80 - 85, most of the time more like 75 - 80.  I thought I had it beat when I started putting super unleaded instead of standard unleaded in the tank but the problem slowly crept back in.  I've had the car just over a year and although it's annoying it doesn't seem to have any effect on the running or economy of the car, on that basis I will ignore it until or if it starts causing problems.  I remember reading somewhere on here (cant find the thread) that although it could be a thermostat problem it's more likely to be the engine coolant temperature sensor that's at fault if there is a fault at all.  Engine coolant temp sensor is much easier and cheaper to fix than the thermostat. :coffee:

Have you tried opening the fuse box in the car?  There is usually a guide to which is which and what they do on the cover.  Or get hold of the owners manual, if you haven't got one I'm sure it will be online, just do a Google search.
