Estate electric boot VCDS adaptation.

Featured Replies

Hi, just looking to see if anyone knows if you can use VCDS to amend a MY16 car to allow closing of the electric boot from the key fob?

Just a little background. As I use a wheelchair I couldn't reach the standard estate boot to shut it so I ordered an electric boot knowing I could amend the height it opens so i could reach it. Done this and it works fine, apart from people putting stuff in my boot now continually bang their head on it.

Once you've set the new height you can, if you want set it back to open fully by pushing the boot lid up to overcome the programmed setting. So I get out the car when it's a little windy to find that the wind pressure is enough to override the set point and open the lid fully meaning I'm sat like a numpty waiting for someone to come along who could close the boot for me as it can only be closed from the button on the boot lid.

I explained all this to Skoda UK and asked if, bearing in mind the special circumstances and that I'd rather not end up in the pouring rain unable to close the boot again, if the dealer could use VCDS to amend it so the boot would shut from the key fob. Something other manufacturers seen to do anyway. They tell me that's only possible if the car has KESSY which mind doesn't. Not sure if their right.

So does anyone have have any experience of using VCDS to allow the boot to close from the key fob on MY16 or do I need to carry a large stick around with me to poke at the button and shut the boot on my shiny new car?

Yes it can be done with VCDS.

Thanks for the answer, wasn't sure from other thread whether it also worked on MY16 non KESSY but I'll have another word with Skoda UK and see what they say.

P.s. I am a numpty as I should have posted on other thread.

Skoda dealers do not use VCDS, and a lot of the coding options available through VCDS, their diagnostic equipment cannot do. Some of the options that are simply coding changes are paid for options, and so it's understandable that they will not/cannot enable certain features.

It would probably be easier for you to find a local member with VCDS and to code it yourself.

I had this done at my (non official) Skoda service centre (Qualitat, Auckland = brilliant).

They changed the setting to allow for boot opening and closing from centre console button, AND remote key fob. Note that to close the boot from the remote requires you to hold the button continuously until the boot has closed (might be a safety feature).

Did this to ours when it was about 2 days old!  Works a treat!

Can be set to close from both Fob and internal button. Easy to do if you have VCDS.

Sadly you're a little too far from me.

Check out the VCDS thread for a user nearby.
