grade of oil advice please

Featured Replies

I use castor edge on my L200 5w 40, have since new now done 160kmiles and loses no oil.

skoda said can use either 10/40 or 5/40 fully synthetic has to be c3 grade.

would it harm changing over to fully synthetic, or would it be silly she won't be doing many miles, just going to get car serviced yearly

also at skoda they told me they don't change fuel filters rarely need doing?

It would be best if you say what engine the oil is for?

Is it not already running with Full Synthetic or should have been?

Is your Skoda not one that can & should use 5W 30 or 5W 40.

Fuel Filters are as well changed because you do not know where the previous owner bought fuel,

and a Ex Skoda Employee just the other day said they changed Fuel Filters at 4 Years,.

thats it i can't see if its5w 30 or 5w 40, service history doesn't indicate, just has oil, unless theres some code to decide what oil.

I'm changing all filters just wondering which oil to use, he told me 10w 40  or it can be 5w40 FS.

i know when i bought my l200 from 18 month old, changed over to fully synthetic as mitsubishi said could go 9000 for oil change then did and its been good.

just told it had to be c3 spec

It would be best if you say what engine the oil is for?

^^^^

Exactly, which engine are you asking about oil for.

sorry for a 1.2 htp 12 valve

What is "Castor Edge" and shouldn't you be posting this question in the Lexus forum anyhow?

Castor oil can be found in WD-40 I seem to remember reading.

The OP is comparing what he has been doing with the other car while asking for advice for a Fabia 1.2

Edgy!

Edgy!

Well I could have said that it was obviously Castor oil from the "Edge" region of ?????, but I'd hope that you would not have swallowed that.

From the Seven Seas maybe but then I would still not have been swallowing Castor Oil.

 i blame my phone,

The castrol edge  is used in my L200 mitsubishi,  as i have used it since owing it from new

Im asking about  the fabia 1.2 http, dealer says i can use 5w40 as long as c3 spec

But on service history doesn't state grade of oil whether fully or semi synthetic

Full Synthetic.

Is this the car that had the 1.2 HTP Engine Replaced,

how many miles covered now since the new engine went in if it is?

Have to say no rattle on start up and very  very quiet, especially compared to old guys in street he has a 59 plate.

I think service guy at skoda aint got a clue he says if serviced every yr they use 10w 40  a semi Synth looks like that cheap stuff, make carlube or something they were getting delivered from andrew page  motor factors place

Just think that is his full time job, how many people can have the wrong oil in their engines.

I was thinking be handy if i could use the 5w40 i is in my L200 saves buying different makes of oil, if its had semi synthetic in am i ok going to Fully synthetic

i don't have a love for dealers had a bad experience with them many years ago in service dept,

It only had Semi Synthetic if someone was using the wrong oil.

So if you think it has, your father will Flush and then put in Full Synthetic.
