Fabia Problems

Featured Replies

Hi There,

Just bought an accident damaged Fabia 1.4 classic. Spent an arm and a leg on bits from Roadside Recovery (Only joking Gary!). However I need to fit the airbag and control module and have a problem with the power steering( not working). Anybody got experience of replacing the airbag and module? Anyone had power steering grief? Do I need the VAG-COM tool?

Any help would be appreciated.

Chris

Welcome Chris

Power Steering:

Have you checked the power steering pump has not been damaged in any impact, Fluid level and condition of drive belt.

Airbag

I assume the other bag was deployed in the accident. I dont think you need to replace the module unless that was damaged in the accident. you may need to have the module reset though using something like vag-com. The replacement airbag should be a straight swap from the old one.

Hi Mannyo,

Thanks for the prompt response! I haven't checked the fluid and belts yet but will do next.

Re: The module, I was informed by Gary at Roadside Recovery as well as main dealer that I need to replace the module if the airbag had been deployed. I would like to be sure before plugging the new bag into the wheel.(I am changing this as well as was told the old one is likely to be burnt out -good money for the breaker!). If it is possible to reset the module I'll send it back! I know there are some that can't be reset according to the Vag-Com website.

Incidently there seems to be a lot of BS spoken about Airbags in general ,handling etc . Any bad experiences?

Regards

Chris

I always thought the Fabia power steering was electric... so no pumps or fluid!
