Pedals

Featured Replies

Have Skoda reverted to conventional accelerator pedal in the S3, as opposed to the fixed base, flat pedal affair in the S2?

If it fits ok leave it!

Turn it round then have a well earned

if your foot does not slip leave it. removing it will damage the rubber locating pins. If this happens then you will need to buy a new cover or bond it on, but dont use any old glue. Mark sure you use a bonding sealing agent

Did the warm water trick work.

Done... Came off ok.... It would have just bugged me. No damage apart from scalded fingers ... :-( ....

Yeah Giz beer time ! :-)

Do the Pedals just fit over the existing ones? & if so how are they secured, do they just click on??

Kind of on DSG. Brake pedal just unclip the plastic pedal and replace. Throttle is a pain. As suggested I dropped it in a bucket of boiling water first which did the trick.

Thanks Nick, I've the manual pedals is it just as awkward for both types or was it just the DSG throttlethat was a pain?

I'll pass the baton over to one of our manual brethren :-)

The throttle pedals are the same on manual and DSG cars, not sure about the brake and clutch pedals but I would imagine they will require the hot water treatment as well.

Cheers, thanks for that lads

Is it possible to fit a fixed based pedal similar to Bmw and Mercedes as I find its a much better setup that this type of configuration

Anything is possible but it will be a lot of work and will invalidate your warranty with anything that needs changing.

Personally unless you have a physical disability needing it to be base mounted (can’t think of one) then you are better off getting used to it.

Hi Gizmo, to save the search can you cover the "hot water treatment" again please.

Put some very hot water into a jug and drop the pedals covers in the water for about 30 seconds or so this will soften the rubber making fitment easier, the DSG brake pedal went on easily enough on mine without the need for hot water.

Ideally you want to wear gloves when doing this as the pedals will be bloody hot once removed from the water (obviously!)

My previous car was a bmw. No difference in real-life at all. Trust me, you won't miss it.

Thanks Gizmo, just fitted mine, much easier with your advice.
