Rear beam bushes

Featured Replies

Evening all .. I've replaced every bush and component up front on my fabia Vrs , apart from steering rack ... New ap 25mm kit , geometry done .... And it still feels like front and back aren't connected , in fact it's scary on motorway , seems to have a mind of its own .. Also it knocks a lot from the rear .. It's had new top mounts too . Could my beam bushes be knackered ?? Also has anyone used poly for them ??

Regards Tony

Would make sense to upgrade them seeing as you've done everything else. Most don't bother but if it was me I would. I remember changing some on an old Fiesta Zetec-S years ago, that also had a rear beam setup, and it made a difference!

Once it's done get it on a proper 4 wheel alignment machine to see what everything is set and and if there are any issues.

Personally I wouldn't bother from my own experience on my fabia vrs. A chunk of expense and hassle for very little, positive noticeable gains. It just made the rear end feel crashy, didn't make the handling feel any more positive.

If your bushes are nackered, my advice would be to save yourself some cash and replace with OEM items.

How many miles have your rear shock absorbers done? I assume the ap 25mm kit you've mentioned just consisted of springs?

have you got a read ARB fitted? Not sure what a "New ap 25mm kit" is so I'm sorry if this is it... :)

The ap kit is shocks and springs .. Done now 600 miles . Just fitted a rarb which seem to make it worse ... Car has done 130k so I guess they are originals ... I've checked everything is tight .. I guess I will just change the bushes . Least I know there new then ...
