Why do you love your Yeti?

Featured Replies

Unfortunately we get what aggressive motoring journos want......something fast and sporty for comparison with other brands.

Much depends on what you are coming from and if you are looking elsewhere in the sector or have owned a crossover in the past.

My wife who is also a 'petrol head' didn't 'get' Yetis and didn't see the point. Then for work she had a hire Hyundai ix35 hire car for a week long 1000 mile 'road trip'. At the end of it she totally 'got' the high driving position crossover appeal.

From there, it was a short step to convince her that the Yeti was the best offering in the sector. She hasn't looked back and enjoys driving 'Yoda' almost as much as her BMW M135i.

It's an immensely practical family car. I replaced my Fabia VRS Estate with one. There's so much space in the cabin, the boot was up to a two week trip to France with the kids. I can get their bikes in the boot far easier than I could in the Fabia, and it's a really pleasant and relaxing drive. I love sitting up a bit. It has lots of useful gadgets that the Fabia didn't, and it's very very comfortable. The only minor annoyances are that there's nowhere to keep the can of gloop and pump in the boot because of the Adblue tank, and the brakes on my 110 diesel feel a little insipid after the VRS. They do their job though.

Wow. Thank you for all the responses.

The family are definitely warming to the Yeti's charms having heard your thoughts.

Next step is to get to a dealer.

Cheers all.

Yes, my plan as well! I am hoping to convince Skoda UK to supply 16" wheels if I go for a run out present shape Yeti, if not then I plan to transfer my 16" Moons and do a deal with the dealer with regard to tyres. Not prepared to accept 17" wheels at all.

To be fair, our Yeti came on 17" wheels and I also have a set of 16" winter wheels. The ride is pretty good on the 17" wheels and they do fill the wheel arches rather better than the 16" ones!

Definitely an ANTI-fashion statement

Not wanting to stir up this old chestnut but, personally, I find the ride comfort better on the 16" wheels with 60 profile tyres, quieter too. However, everyman to his taste.

Have slobbered over the Evoque Pure and its 'small' wheels.....expensive to buy and service though.

That's interesting seeing the Moon alloys as " suitable for snow chains" on the Skoda site.

The Moons were spec'ed for doing a job, rather than for appearance.  JMO.

I find the Yeti an excellent all rounder. One speaks as the past/present owner of three CR170s (4x4 manuals) - TIBETs I & II were two pre-FL Elegances and TIBET III as a FL L&K. All three on Skoda finance, TIBET II got chopped in early (at 18 months) when the FL appeared at 0%...

Build quality is excellent (good people the Czechs) and I've had nigh on 100% reliability (EGR valve sensor and drivers seat squab heater were replaced on TIBET I). Superb dealer service from Allams at Epsom. Great value for money when compared to similar VW badged vehicles utilising many of the same parts.

It's easy to drive in traffic, pretty much as fast a car as you realistically need on today's UK roads and handles ridiculously well for a relatively tall machine. The view out is brilliant - I love the lofty driving position. Personally, I like the road holding of the 17" wheels so happy to trade off a bit of ride comfort for handling and grip.

Sometimes people complain the boot isn't big enough etc etc, but that depends what you want to put in it. If you can't get everything you need in it then you have to buy a bigger car - you can't complain the Yeti wasn't designed for your particular needs. For me it has plenty of space but I don't have the clutter that children require for their survival.

That said three of us adults took TIBET III to Croatia and back with a huge amount of kit and it was amazing what we could get in with the flexibility of removing two of the rear seats. The two of us that shared the driving are both around 5' 8" and had loads of room for driving or kipping in the back (sun roof is awesome for rear seaters!). 2900 miles, an average 54 mph and 41.4 true MPG.

Thread here shows the load carried to Croatia:

And it's different.

And I think the FL looks really nice....  :bandit:

  • 4 months later...

I love my Yeti even before I pick my first one up next week.

My own contingency plan  !  I would even seriously consider refurbing the hard-won 16" 'Moons' and transferring them.

Unless Skoda offer me 16" wheels then I will definitely transfer the 16" Moons, don't even need refurbing really.

I look forward to driving it

It makes me smile

It goes quickly

Stops Quickly

Thinks it is bigger than it is

European styling quite unlike the rest with the "kicked up the back bumper" look.

Lovely driving position and handling.

I'd add one more thing to that list:

It doesn't look as if it's been sat on by an elephant!

Great to hear such positive reviews.

Mines now built and in transit to the port.
