Difficulty sourcing Felicia 1.3 (136B engine) valve guide

Featured Replies

The Dealer's don't list a part number for this guide and Skoda UK Customer Service have no interest in helping.

In spite of the same I managed to find this link

http://infopart.org/metelli-012774-part

which clearly lists both an OE part number and a Metelli replacement part number

OE 047 109 608

Metelli 01-2774 (012774)

but when I called Metelli UK they told me they list no such part.

Whilst I fully appreciate the financial benefits of such abandonment, such sentiment seems to completely undermine the notion of both "customer service" and the longevity inherent in the design of the old Skoda engines.

I've posted here because information on these guides is very sparce indeed and this looks like the most frequented sub-forum so hopefully someone looking will know something even if just the specifications/original supplier to Skoda etc.

Best Regards and thank you for your time in reading this.

BTW My paypal account is at the ready.

I just came back to say Metelli's marketing department in Germany have confirmed they don't list that part.

However, Metelli were extremely responsive/helpful in suggesting that I talk to MOTORSERVIS KASL S.R.O.REVNICE

Thanks Metelli!

As an ultimate solution, maybe somebody has a failed head with good valve guides.

Sounds promising. Between that and Ricardo's contacts, I reckon you'll get there in the end.

If it should prove helpful, I have a Czech-nationality workmate who will probably be happy to translate a version of your message, for extra goodwill points. He also has a brother still in Czech who might be able to help with collection/ forward posting if Motorservis Kasl don't want to ship stuff abroad.

Yes that is a solution

Thanks very much Ricardo

Wino

Thanks very much too.

I just had a quick look on Motorservis site and unsurprsingly it's all in Czech so...it's not easy to see where to email.

?

"General engine overhauls" sounds like they're in the right sort of business in terms of using the parts you require, but not a part manufacturer as such.

  • Author

Yes...they look to be in the right place too i.e.

I did a google of "MOTORSERVIS KASL S.R.O.REVNICE skoda" and the map that popped up is peppered with Skoda-related locations.

They don't seem to have their own email address but I found a collective one so....I sent a message albeit in English so we'll see what happens.

I'll report back if/when I get a response i.e. your workmate's services might be required depending on whether google translate is having a good or bad day.

 Let me know.

I've took the time to study the Metelli engine parts catalog. The code 01-2774 corresponds indeed to Skoda code 047 109 608. The dimensions look OK (8mm inner diameter), but Metelli mentions those guides are for the smaller engine 135B and Favorit. As predicted, for those engines the guides are made of cast iron, but for 136B I'm not so sure Skoda used the same material. The shape in the catalog is odd too. I would ask for clarification.

Thank you very much for your work Ricardo. I have sent an email to Metelli.

Thank you too Wino for standing by.

My Czech friend indicated Metelli too. The only valve guides you can find in Czech Republic are for 136M engines with 7 mm valve stem diameter. Probably from Metelli too. He has a complete 136M head for sale at 40 EUR + shipping.

I just came back to say I called the engineer and his prices are so reasonable I'm having one made (your first suggestion)

40 EUR + shipping is a REALLY good price and I very much appreciate your and your friend's kindness in making this offer.

Thank you also for advising re the valve guide supply situation in the Czech Republic.

When I looked at various sites in the Czech Republic I couldn't understand anything I saw.

Hopefully...it'll be plain sailing from now on.

I'll keep you posted.
