L&K spec problems

Featured Replies

The Car Menu item simply says Light Assist under Lights. No 'Dynamic'.

I paid the £250 too!

You should get a refund as the £250 light assist is not even an available option on l&k going by brochure

Only £100 to get smart light assist (dynamic)

Edited by InfiniteDreamer

I have Light Assist and Dynamic Light Assist. Haven't really been out at night (delivery last week) so can't comment with authority on effect. But on handover the dealer commented on two aluminium coloured boxes (one each side), each about the size of a fag packet, on front bulkhead above the back of the headlights under the bonnet. He told me these are the dynamic LA controllers...you can check if you have these?

Confirmed from dealer this morning that L&K does now have the option for 'light assist' and it is listed at £250!!! Quite when this changed I have not been told as it was not relevant in my case.

Mine has only light assist. This simply gives auto main beam and does not have additional eyelash LED in the headlamp unit. Dynamic lighting or smart light provides different light beams for several situations, wider beam to see pavements etc, longer dipped beam range on motorways etc. It is known as intelligent lighting systems on other marques. Thus has different headlamp units and a few other possible bits such as wiring loom, control units etc. Cost to convert would be in excess of £1500!!!!!

I have no worries about compo or retro fit by Skoda as I didnt spec the car. Just a disappointment that it wasnt full dynamic lighting which the dealer and I expected to be there.

So if you have an L&K on order and you have specified 'smart or dynamic light assist on the £100 option I recommend you check with your dealer to make sure that is what you will get. Ask specifically for a check that dynamic lighting is in the build spec and NOT standard light assist.

mmmm... I thought the standard Xenons with AFS provides different light beams for several situations, wider beam to see pavements etc ( copied that bit ) .... :-)

Don't feel you're missing out. What you describe is AFS (Adaptive Frontlight System) and is standard with all Superb Bi-Xenon lights (even on the Mk.II), so you should already have that.

You'll notice it most at night on bends on unlit roads where you'll see the beams adjust to give a wider spread.

It seems very strange that the simpler, less advanced 'light assist' is a £250 option on the L&K and the more advanced dynamic light assist is only £100 !!!!

Yep, got me foxed as well but it is so according to Skoda tech. What I dont know is whether the original £100 option is still actually available. I know it shows on the config etc but in reality are they still building them with that option? Hence my warning to those with orders still to be delivered. My car was built in late September.

Ah OK. I didn't realise they were proper AFS. Have them on the other car and would have missed them so thanks for the tip. As I said elsewhere I'm an old big hammer, heavy spanner dork who gets lost with all this thin wire, solid state stuff. If you can't hit it to make it work than I am best leaving it alone :)
