Keyless entry - emergency unlock

Featured Replies

Just a query, as a friend recently got herself locked out of a keyless car - Merc - due to forgetting to turn off the lights and flattening the battery. Is there an alternative normal key still available on the KESSY system?

This seems to be a distinct snag with this system should that be the case.

Not too sure about the O3, but on most other VAG cars there's a 'hidden' cover on the passenger side handle which, when flipped off allows access to a normal lock.

No idea about merc, on the O3 you can take part of the handle cover off and unlock it with the normal key.

Presumably the Keyless thingy that you have in your pocket incorporates the emergency key?

On the Skoda's it's just a normal key, but with keyless capability.

I know that on marc vans (without keyless) there's an emergency key within the keyfob you can use.

My KESSY still has a normal flip out key, there is a slot under the fixed part of the drivers handle to flip the cover off and get to the key hole.

What you do then if the car is deadlocked to get the passenger door open to open the bonnet is another thing and has been done to death in a few recent threads, suggestions both helpful and funny but not both  :D

As he said above :D

Beware about being a bit rough when prising off the cover that you dont damage the paintwork on the door.

Moral of the story is that when you buy a car with Keyless - R.T.F.M. as soon as you get the car home to find out how to use the key provided. ( the manual to find out how to use the key is no good locked in the car  LOL )

Can you not release the bonnet with the passenger door shut? That sounds pretty daft.

Someone on here managed to bend it so it went past, mate of mine broke it doing the same
